  • 10 bolts nittos and a T-56

As you guys know in the other thread Im having trouble getting my car off the line so I ordered a set of 555Rs since I need new tires anyways. Ive read many different opinions about running nittos 555rs on a 6 speed car with the stock 10 bolt they range from your gonna break it 10 bolts suck too nittos really dont hook very good youll be fine as long as you keep the launch under 3k. Ive also read that the stock 10 bolt really isn't that weak and has a worse rep then it is. Im planning on swapping in a ford 8.8 next year But I really don't want to blow my current 10 bolt up before then so im just wondering what you guys think about running these tires with the stock rear my mods are in my sig.

Don't launch them when they're cold. 555r rubber will hop badly if not warmed up. Any 10 bolt can snap at a moment's notice. They're flat out junk.

I know this is off topic, but your mods are damn near what I'm looking to do. What LSA is your cam and what did you dyno your car at?

Well you want us to tell you you'll be fine...
"You'll be fine until something breaks" lol
Its like a 30 year old radiator, it may be fine today but tomorrow it could leak.

Don't launch the car and you should be OK or buy some all season 245 50s and yo'll be good without traction

112 LSA I didn't have the car put on a dyno Because Steve at s&b tuning just street tuned it but he said it should be around 410-425rwhp. I was thinking it would have been better to just make pass's on the nittos without doing a burn out just to make sure they would spin a little keeping the 10 bolt safe but the tire hop is just as bad.

just dont be dumb. the 10 bolt depending on how good of condition it is ive seen a 01 ss push a 10 bolt witth 555r's into mid 10s. so the rear can hold decent power but just keep an eye on it.

That would be nice if you guys could say for sure it will be fine but I know you guys can't tell me it will be fine for sure. Im just trying to see what kind of experiences you guys have had running this combo.

I would say that was in an auto without a doubt I have an m6 so mines a bit rougher on the rear.

370rwhp? Unless my engine has some major issue It should be atleast over 400rwhp most Z06 vettes with with tr224 are around 420rwhp from what Ive seen. Plus my heads are milled to give me 11-1cr so that would even give a little bump over a standard ls6.
IM talking about on a Dynojet dyno btw

Wow I would have thought for sure you where talking about a auto. Are you sure it was a 7.625 10 bolt and not a 8.5 10 bolt?

it will hold up just fine IF:

                        A) you dont drive like a dumbass
                        B) you have a good torque arm and suspension that will not allow wheel hop

I know a guy putting 470rwtq through one with good suspension parts.

Hmm well I have stock suspension But I dont drive like a dumbass It would see at the very most a 2500rpm launch prob.

if your suspension cant handle it it doesnt matter. your stock torque arm will experience a whole new world of forces when you put nittos on it. Not that it isnt possible, im just saying I wouldnt expect it to work out very well. my stock torque arm is giving me problems at ~360 rwhp and tires that cant hook worth a crap.

not 100% sure what rear it was exactly but it was a stock 10 bolt. i helped the guy build the car from stock so i know just about all that was done to it. not spec wise but the motor was fully built. full suspension lightly gutted. mild trans. tires everything but a k-member up front and skinnies.
