true but i need to get my motor actually going first before i worry about the little things, so if you want joels its yours

Agreed 100%. The LC-1 couldn't be easier to install. My dad and I installed the wideband in a few hours. We had a bung in the driver's side header for the wideband, drilled a hole through the floorboard under the driver's seat to run the wiring so the LC-1 module is right under the seat and easily accessible for the serial connection for datalogging. We did all the power connections and ground right at the center console and then just had to run the wire to the gauge in the a-pillar through the dash. I had my car professionally tuned and I know Steve tapped into the serial connection when he was tuning my car.

The LC-1 is one of the most popular widebands out there - whenever I hear someone buying a wideband it's an LC-1.

If you have the car dyno tuned, then dont waste your money on one. The tuning parameters wont change from day to day, a 12.6 AFR @ WOT is gonna be 12.6 AFR 365 days a year
If you are gonna spray, then ignore everything I just said.
A wideband is great for more than just tuning. If you're nailing it and you see the car is leaning out at WOT and you know your tune is spot on, you know something is wrong with your fuel delivery system, etc. I still monitor my wideband gauge every time I drive to ensure everything is working fine and it's not going lean for whatever reason. Combine the wideband with a fuel pressure gauge and you'll have a good monitor on your fuel system from the injectors, regulator, to the pump. JMHO.

I am glad I read this, I was trying to decide weather to get a LC-1 wide band or an AEM widband. I was leaning toward the AEM because I could get it at dealer cost.

          false. Installing a PLX is

Unless something has changed the LC-1 does not include a gauge standard, so there is nothing to "watch" unless you get the optional guage with it or you have a laptop next to you.

I have a reputation for disagreeing with people that i dont need to reinforce ... so ill just say if you want an LC-1 actually do your homework on it. Theres a reason im getting rid of mine.

            And there's a reason I'm keeping mine.

Maybe you didn't hook it up right

Oh, and mine came with a gauge in the box

INN3795, INN3796 both include gauges and are only $30 more than the kit without a gauge. So, yeah...I'd say it includes one

kyle - save your money unless you plan on spraying, then i'd recommend one. What is possibly going to go wrong in an N/A build to lean it out so severly? If the pump dies, its gonna just kill the car. I guess my point is, at this point in your build, the money can be spent better elsewhere.

Joel uses a wideband becasue he needs one to tune with. If you want to just see flashing lights get an AFR gauge for $40

Yep, that was the problem, I didn't hook it up right

Have you even tried interfacing yours with a laptop? Are you tuning your car with it? Or do you just have a pretty gauge with some numbers on it?

If you're such an expert, i invite you to come over and make it work for me.

This is my point exactly, if you have a wideband just to see the flashing lights and arent tuning with it.... save your money

No, I have not interfaced mine with a laptop - but absolutely used it to work with my tuner at Trifecta - had I not had my wideband, I would've had no idea that my car was running at 14.7 at WOT, instead of 11.5 - so yes, I'd say that I did indeed use it for tuning purposes.

I cannot say anything about hooking it up to my laptop - though I might have to try that now and see what happens...

                        • well since i am on a budget i might just use the narrowband that i have right now, considering i have it, that should tell me a rough est. of the a/f and when i hook up my n20 later on in the summer ill install a wideband... what all needs to be hooked up for a narrowband?? the wire was cut right after the firewall on my car, so nothing was hooked up.. is it similar to the wideband, where you have to put a sensor in a bung?? any output is appricated thank guys

I was on a budget when I did my SC swap, but a buddy of mine who was doing the same swap (into his '09 G5 LAP) convinced me to get a wideband - so glad he did. I, personally, would just have one for the piece of mind of knowing what your actual AFR is.

But I suppose narrowband might work - I'm not familiar with hooking one up, I'd just imagine you can splice into the factory O2?
