              im actually not finished modifying the hood yet. Its still a snug fit against the lid, but i called it quits yesterday. My back was killing me and i didnt want to breath anymore fiberglass. I need to find a better way to cut that stuff.

                Call me retarded here but what's the huge deal? What does the stock air box on an LT1 car look like? None of my LT1 cars have ever had a factory air box, they've all had CAI's

                  It's not necessarily the airbox itself that's the issue - it's that a straight flow (lid to intake) is hella more efficient than an elbow intake that the LT1s normally use.

                    it has been proven (simply by people datalogging) that the stock intake elbow, even with no filter at all is responsible for a loss in KPa in high RPMs that the LS1 lid does not suffer from. Many guys on LS1 tech have claimed 1-2 mph gain in the quarter mile and a couple tenths as well.
