The little extra tweaks here and there and trying to find a 18mm x 1.75 plug to block off the extra o2 bungs killed me.

But no offense Ryan you have other stuff I would do to your car before I would do LT's, just my opinion.

There's a long list for the winter

Damn... 19 hours. you could have dropped the engine out from the k-frame entirely and then took the exhaust manifolds off, bolted the new ones on while the engine is resting on just the kframe out from the car, and bolted it back up to the car in less time

Now that we have done it several times, It took me 6.5 hrs by myself to drop the formy's engine. I was going slow because I was by myself. takes about 4 to put it back.
I am almost ready to say its easier to drop engine to change plugs and wires. ALMOST! LOL.

EDIT: I bet if We push it we could do it in 4.5 to 5 hrs.

The only problem with dropping the motor B is that the AC would have to be undone.

By leaving the motor in the car and rocking it from one side to the other means I don't have to worry about the AC.

I'm not in it for the speed of things either.
If it took me 36hrs I wouldn't care as long as I'm alive and it get's done right

Kyle, whats the order of mods you would do to a stock LT1?

Good to see you did wires while you were there
Gears would be a good upgrade also.

Brian came over to our shop and we tweaked some things to help clearance a lot. We got the bandclamps on the Y-Pipe tightened up and siliconed to get rid of exhaust leaks, the Y-Pipe clearanced nicely by pulling down on it while tightening the clamps. We bent a few brakelines to keep them a good distance away. Put a couple washers in the tunnel brace as well for even more room. It was weird, all of the clearance that the car had when it was up in the air for the original install was completely gone, definately should have notched the kmember, the headers are resting right on it in a few spots. He is going to come back to our shop sometime and have a couple of the spots heated up and bent to give him about a quarter inch of clearance, should be all set after that. We also installed a strut tower brace and the VERY needed new serpentine belt lol, I'll let him clean it up and post pictures later on though

That's pretty much identical to how mine went. Weird.

is the metal thin on those things and the weight of the exhaust maybe is causing them to bend down and rest on kmember once they are heated up?

I thought they seemed a bit thicker than the stainless ones I put on my car. But they were pretty close. And its not the fact that they are bent down onto the kmember, its like they moved outward more, My only assumption is that the Y Pipe is pulling the headers out onto that lip on the side of the kmember. (same exact spot that we had to clearance on my car.) His Y-Pipe went on very tight, so this is probably the reason for the lack of clearance. It has nothing to do with the car being in the air and then being let down, but moreso the Y-Pipe's stress on the headers making them go out.

thats what we did last night to try and get any more clearance we could while tightening up the clamps. It worked well and they wouldnt move once tightened lol

IMHO - the price definitely is worth it for a stainless steel exhaust system.
