When you put new bearings in did you repace the oil pump? It sounds like oil regulator issue. I would change oil and filter stay with 10w30. If you replaced pump then get someone with obd port connect and laptop have them read oil pressure from PCM, then you know what sending unit is sending to PCM and what PCM is sending to the gauge. Going to heavier oil will boost idle pressure a lb or 2 but only mask what is happening.
The important issue here is you do have good oil pressure just not what you expected. Going to mechanical gauge will not do anything but cost you money. Its still a mechanical device subject to variations.

IMO, the filter keeps the shit out of your engine, this isn't somewhere that you want to cheap out. I did before, and I payed for it. Go mobil 1 or K&N. Expensive, but its not like you are changing them all the time.

Thicker oil is not the answer, stay 10-30 and change the filter to a napa gold or other. NO FRAMS!

that could be the case
but when i got it the engine was blown

the one in it now was pulled out of a 60k mile car
and i just put new mains new rod bearings a new waterpump new oil pimp new rear main

Or, perhaps a cheaper option to the K&N, Hi Flo makes K&N filters, so you could possibly go that way. I've always used ac delco, personally.

im not to worried about price

i would only need to change the oil like 2 times a year driving to school and back
but i wasnt sure if the mobile one is really worth the 3 times price of a delco

IIRC the delco and mobile 1s are the same, but I cant find any of the stuff from my auto shop class. We tore every brand filter we could find apart and tested them, it was pretty cool. Someone on a forum did something similar.

Mine runs at 60# cruising and on start up, once it's warm it usually drops to like 40#, running Mobil1 10w30 and a Mobil1 filter.
