most GM after the mid 90's or so do not use clips to hold the caps in from the factory. They use nylon. you use the torch to melt the nylon. There are little holes in the shaft for the nylon to squirt out of(place where the nylon was injected)
most people use a hammer to remove the caps afterwards but it can and will bend the yoke.
a press is the proper way

indeed, as was stated in everything i read on how to get the job done. im changing them because its convenient at this point. the car has like 65k on it and the driveshaft is already out, so i might as well. i dont want to do all that work putting it together (because its convenient now) just to rip it apart again because i didnt do it correctly

so, she starts!!! and sounds ****ing amazing. but, she doesnt go anywhere. doesnt seem like the trans is engaging. electrical is hooked up and the shifter and torque converter are doin their thing, but the trans... ..not so much. park works but the car can be pushed in every other gear. =/Last edited by MORNINGSTAR2101; May 26th, 2009, 09:03 AM.

I talked to Pace today.
We have come up with 4 things:
Your bracket may have to be adjusted where your linkage hooks up to the trans.
Recheck all your connections again.
Check that SES light.
Might be the tune but make sure you rule out any manual errors before calling the tuner.

i appreciate the offer b! also, can be pushed while its running. and yeah, the torque converter was installed properly. jonny shared his unfortunate story with me, so we made sure that we twisted it properly before installing. we rechecked everything and its all hooked up. kinda feel like im at a brick wall at this point.
