How high is the compression going to be now that you had the heads decked? I can't wait to see what your car puts down, once done. Keep us updated.

Are you gonna have to mill the intake to match your mill to the heads???sigpic1994 Camaro Z28 83K M6, CAI, AFR 190cc, 11.6:1, Hooker headers, Hooker ORY, Mangnaflow exhaust, AI 230/238, 1.6 RR, B&M Short throw, Hays clutch, 4.10 gear.

manuals should be launched off the limiter and the throttle shouldn't leave the floor til 10 feet after the finish line

I will probably have to drill out the bolt holes a little.Originally posted by adamss View PostAre you gonna have to mill the intake to match your mill to the heads???-Joel

Well just a quick update.
Basically I am going to admit that I am entirely frustrated right now. This project keeps growing and today it just got rediculous.
I ordered a $4 spring for the oil pump to bump the pressure up a bit and now I have a nightmare on my hands. I had read that the oil pan would drop out if you unmount the engine and jack it up. (no big deal). Well, thats not the case. Nope, after I got all the **** out of the way i find out that this only applies to automatic cars, that dont have a bellhousing in the way
Even with the engine and trans completely dismounted, and rammed up into the firewall... no luck. I spent the entire day getting nothing done, other than removing more useless bullcrap from the engine bay.
If i had know i was going to be pulling the heads and oil pan from the start, I would have just dropped the k-member. I cant believe it but I think that is what I am going to do. This car is going to be completely disamembled firewall forward before I know it.
Ive got a couple pics Ill post in the morning. Big thanks to jon for helpin me out today. The good news is that I completed 90% of the garage PC, which will make looking up information out there much easier.

sorry i didnt post pics yet, I ended up at dereks house all day helping him with his headers.
I think what i am going to do though is loosen up the k-member just enough to give me a few more inches of clearance. i dont feel like playing with the clutch hydraulics and pulling my shifter out.-Joel

lets put it this way, you probably just jinxed itOriginally posted by Syn View Postshould be able to get easily 3in+ when i loosened my bolts almost all the way out i had alot of clearence
but ls1 vs lt1 idk diff
So far, derek and I have observed ONE (1) thing in the engine bay that appears to have been designed for serviceability convenience. I have worked on jon's LS1 a ton, and I kid you not everything takes 1/2 the time and effort as this engineering disaster.
Like jon was saying, you can tell exactly what the problem was in the design of the car. Every engineer was given their own thing to add to the engine, and the communication between them was a total FAIL. Engine bay real estate is wasted and poorly organized with every little thing. They got it all to fit together good enough to assemble on the k-member and just slam it in the shell...and stopped there. The accessory belt routing and mount is an excellent example. The bracket is practically the size of the intake manifold. does it need to be? No, but you better believe it is. And its in the way of EVERYTHING. There are also several hoses that you can see were last minute design adjustments... such as the power steering wrapping around everything. Ok ill shutup now

With the LS1, they clearly thought things out just a LITTLE better.
Itll get done though. I think i might take the opportunity to paint my engine block while everything is apart now too.Last edited by JoeliusZ28; June 30th, 2008, 12:47 AM.-Joel
