It's NOT a rumor. Stuff like that doesn't show up instantly.

yea like others have said here there is definitely a reason cars must be "flex fuel" certified. Just because some one has done something and gotten away with it doesnt mean its a smart risk. If i was going to run E85 (and i have looked into it) i would be taking all of the necessary precautions to avoid screwing my car up. The reason for doing it in the first place is to save money on high octane gas, is it not? Risking extra repair costs seems kind of counter-productive to me.

Anyone know how to figure out how much the Octane will bump up from 93 octane if you add 1-3 gallons to your tank?

simple math ratios i am calculating that 3 gallons will give you 101.6 octane... but i have 0 confidence in my simple math because that doesnt seem right.

you can't do that. E85 requires a differant A/F ratio and flex fuel cars have a sensor that monitors type of fuel to control the tune

So adding a gallon or two to a full tank isn't going to help any?

At the very least it might help clean out the fuel system if you add a bit?

For the people that are worried about the corrosiveness, I am going to switch to stainless steel fuel lines and upgrade my fuel rails eventually but right not that is not in the funds and this is about the only time I can borrow my grandfathers truck for awhile to get it tuned in Indiana. The tune and the trip down there is going to take quite a bit of my funds, but once they get back up I will be upgrading as it permits. I am not too worried about it corroding anything too fast.

But for now I am going to enjoy the new smell of my exhaust.

Oh and anyone that would like to chat with me more about it once I am running it I will be at the M&G.

Here are all of my specs, I am going to make you guys wait and have you guess what you think my 93 and E-85 octane numbers are because I am going to bed. 3 hours total sleep in the past two days with 9 hours of driving, I'm tired. I'll do a big long write up tomoorrw with a video. But i will say that I am very pleased!!!
