Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
I just want to let everyone know that I am getting my car tuned for E-85 next Friday at Pro Dyno Tech in Crawfordsville, IN. They are really good with E-85 and have a lot of experience. I am also getting it tune for 93 octane just in case I am not by a E-85 Station. I can't wait to see the HP and Torque number differences between the two. I am going to run a full tank of each and try to keep my foot out of it () to see the mpg differences.
Anyways I'm f'n excited and just wanted to let everyone know!
e85 actually decreases your mpg by a few miles per gallon, it's because the ethanol can not be combusted efficiently enough to reap it's full benefits. It is cheaper and may be comparable to 87 but it does have a decrease in mpg. Anyways let me know how it turns out between the two fuels
sigpic 2002 Camaro v6: Cobalt metalic blue "Blue Devil"
Alpine cda-9851, 2- RE 6.5" component sets, 1 RE sx15" subwoofer, 1 Alpine MRV 1005d amplifier, Knuconcpets rca's, Memphis audio wiring, and 100 sq ft of FAT MAT extreme... got for 147 db at the windshield before fat mat new numbers soon to come.

but at the same time it has a 105 octane rating which makes it a candidate for higher compression engines
Who is even selling E85 around here? I know they built up a new ethanol plant behind my cousin's shop in Lake Odessa, but I've yet to see any pumps around here.

As for the stainless steel, there is no need our fuel lines are already built to handle ethanol since it is already in gasoline, it is Methanol that you need to worry about. There are people that have run E-85 for 2+ years in our cars with no problem. I do have 60# injectors, even though you only need 42# injectors, but I have a head and cam, and I have a 255lph walbro pump.
As for the mpg drop, I already knew about that that is why I want to do a comparison test. I've been doing a lot of research on it and there is a thread on LS1Tech that is 15 pages long about running E-85 in our cars. The most it will drop is 20-30% but if tuned well it will be less than that. I do have 11:1 compression which will help brun the fuel better. But I will let you know cobalt camaro and everybody else.
As for E-85 stations there are 41 stations in the state of Michigan that sells it.
Our cars are made to run LOW amounts of ethanol, not high concentrates like E85 which is much more corrosive than the 10-15% that's mixed with normal gas.

Ethanol + our plastic tanks = shortened fuel tank life
i know everyone 'reads' about people who "run this all day" but there are reasons why engineers pick different fuel system materials when running E-85
The problem wont present itself quickly and i think thats the problem, it takes a long time for this stuff to make its damage noticable to your fuel system
However, you can run it, just dont hold onto the car for 5+ years..
E-85 is the best 'cheap' race gas, if i was building a street and race vehicle i'd use E-85
As far as is being corrosive, if I thought it was going to tear my car apart then I wouldn't use it and if it does become a problem then I will know well in advance because of the people that have been running it for 5 years will have problems before I do.
As for the plastic gas tanks thing Flex Fuel cars gas tanks are lined with plastic.
But Anyways, I didn't start this thread to create a fight I just wanted to let everyone know that I was going to be doing this and I would do a couple of experiments for everyone else. I will keep everyone posted

i think the Meijer at LMD and wilson has it.
The gas station at the corner of Kenowa and Rivertown Avenue next to the stake n shake has it also.
