I'm gonna guess 402rwhp on 93 and 408rwhp on E-85 but I'm not exactly sure how our cars react to the E-85 so please excuse me if I'm way off.Doing less with more

E-85 Numbers
OK, well first off I need to thank PatrickG for specing me a f**kin awesome cam!!!
Anyways after getting the car all loaded up at 3:30am Friday morning I got about three hours of sleep and headed off on the road for four hours to Pro Dyno Tech in Crawfordsville, IN. I got there and he told me to pull the car off of the trailer and up to the door, well it didn’t want to stay running because of all the fuel that was being dumped into it. So he told me to turn it off and he did a little tune just to keep it running so I could get it off the trailer. Well I got it off the trailer and then he did a few more tweaks and it was on to our first dyno run on 93 octane. The whole time while it was going I was going, stay together baby! So with the converter locked it made 428 rwhp and 403 rwtq and the AFR was right on so we did a unlocked run with 93 octane, but I don’t remember those numbers. Then we siphoned the gas out and filled her up with E-85 and he did a few tweaks and onto the dyno we went again! She put down 450.6 rwhp and 418 rwtq! He did a few more tweaks seeing if he could get anymore horsepower, but unfortunately he didn’t because he wanted to leave it a little fat. But all-in-all I was happy with my results!!! Ron is an awesome tuner and I would definitely recommend him to anyone, he knows what he is doing and he can do it fast.
I was literally praying every time he ran it to stay together. I didn’t have any doubts in my engine building but when he did a dyno run it just sounded like he was going to the moon! Before he tuned it and was looking at my cam card he asked me if I fly cut the pistons and I said no and then he said this cam is bigger than the cam in my vette. I laughed and assured him that I had no reason to suspect the valves hitting the heads. He has a C5 Z06 with a LS7 and a cam and full exhaust with some other few things. He makes 575 rwhp and 620 rwtq on E-85 and gets 22 miles to the gallon. It’s a bad ass car he ran a 11.01 in the quarter spinning off the line.
There is one mishap that you will see in the video when I get it all together is the episode of fluid going everywhere!!! At first we thought it was coolant looking at it from far away, but then we thought it was oil and coolant because it was watery and oily. Well we looked all over and just could figure out where coolant and oil would have came from from the top off the engine. The hwe felt it again and smelt it and we found out that it was power steering fluid. On the LS1 the power steering lines run through a hose that has coolant in it to cool down the fluid, well those fittings are on the bottom of the hose I forgot to tighten down. So on the second run when he let off it built up enough pressure to blow the lines off. Luckily that was all it was! Here are some dyno sheets for everyone to enjoy!!!

Wow very impressive numbers and through a large stalled auto to boot! I forgot you were having this done on a dynomite dyno and swore it was a mustang dyno but w/e still very impressive and I love the gain on the E-85. Let us know how many mpg difference it is per tank because now you've really got me wanting to do this.Doing less with more

Yeah I was very impressed with it, the tuner said that this was a strong running car. as for the large stall, I got scared reading about how much large stalls rob power, but it did good. I might switch to a six speed for gas mileage reasons and the 3.73's, but we will see what I get after my first tank is done. I will definitely let you guys know the mpg differences, I think I am going to drive around on E-85 for a little bit though.

Honestly patrick g is the man and as you can see he definatly did his work for ya. If you don't mind me asking how much did the tune run you and have you ever had the car to the track previously? Sounds similarly modded to mine but makes more power.Doing less with more

E-85 actually cost less than regular gasoline. I think right now E-85 is $3.39 but I haven't been out today. It does require more E-85 to burn as efficiently, about 20-30% more, but when I can do my mpg comparisons I will see what it is for me.Originally posted by k0261886 View Posthow much more per gallon is E-85?
Yes he is the shit! The tune ran me $450 for both tunes and all the dyno runs, not to bad at all. I had to pay an extra $100 dollars though because he had to do mine with HP Tuners so he had to buy some credits otherwise if he had used his other program, which he couldn't get into my computer with, I wouldn't have had to of paid the extra $100. I'm sure if there was a bunch of you that wanted to get it done or even a few he would probably give a discount. He is very good at what he does and is very fast.Originally posted by DETROITMUSCLE View PostHonestly patrick g is the man and as you can see he definatly did his work for ya. As for track times, no I haven't been at the track I actually bought a 2001 SS that had a lot of this stuff on it wrecked in the rear end so I never had a chance to run it at the track and the previous owner never took it to the track. But I will be getting to the track as soon as I get my intake cleaner situated. I'm trying to configure an intake that will work with this LS1 styled SS hood that fits on a LT1 that I bought. What I think I'm going to do is I have a K&N FPIK and I'm going to lean the radiator and condenser back a little bit and then cut a hole in the middle of the radiator support that comes with the K&N kit and then route it kind of like how the C5 vettes have theres right in front of the condenser.

Those are great numbers. I wouldn't mind having my stock LT1 tuned for E85. How much cleaner is your exhaust with that stuff? Does it smell like race gas?

I say go ahead and do it! I haven't had it very long obviously but so far I love it. As for the smell no it doesn't smell like race gas it is a little sweeter. It burns very cleanly compared to gasoline. Just to go and tell you how clean it is people have actually noticed there exhaust tips cleaning up after running it for awhile.2013 Cadillac ATS
