HELP! Car shaking!

Yeah, I'm gonna check it tomorrow if the snow isn't too bad. Hopefully it's just a loose bolt, not a sheared one or a broken trans mount. That would suck, because I think that's a dealer-only part. I keep getting a check engine light. I'm gonna hook my laptop up to it and see what that's all about. Probably unrelated, its been flashing on and off since I bought the car.

well.... i would suggest "nut and bolting" your whole car...going through and torqueing all nuts/bolts to proper torque specs...that would help everything...as far as "random clunking" it's my "expert opinion" lol (cause im no expert) but my guess is it's something in your trans...either internally...or something is messed up inside and making weird vibs...a friend of mine has a bronco (no camaro) but it has the exact same symptoms...and it's because it needs a trans re-build....something with the flux capacitor not working right LOL ...just kiddin...yeah and wild goose chases...those suck..been there done that!

could be the driveshaft too... might have lost one of the balance weights that happened to me... same thing happend... didnt really shake too bad to start but once i hit between like 40 on up you could feel the shake get worse and worse... took like 50 cents to fix it...lol just weld a new weight back on it....

I would agree w/ wezeles that also happend to me and my dad on the 69' SS 502 we had after about a month that we had the new engine in it started we looked under there and i noticed there was no more weight onthe driveshaft so like wezeles said aboit 50 cent and u should be back to normal.

also to u fell the shaking in ur feet or ur ass? and thats not joke lol

Well, we didn't get any snow here, stupid weather channel, but I do feel the shaking when I hit a bump, it doesn't really happen at any specific speed. The shaking shakes pretty much the whole car, but I don't feel it in the pedals, only in the seat and the shifter is it the worst. I'm going outside right now to look at it.

Today was a beautiful day for cruising. I even took out the t-tops and went cruising. Anyway, I checked the trans mount, and it is fully intact. All of the bolts are tight, and I also checked the bolts on the trans, the bell housing, and I even put a new sway bar end link hoping that would fix the problem, but it didn't. There are no missing weights on the driveshaft. My mom and I both agree that it feels like it is coming from the rear of the vehicle. I am starting to lose hope here, guys. Please Help!

hmm so your getting it in the rear? lol
if it was something in the axel itself it would be a constant shake from my experiance... if its not the driveshaft... hmm could be your flexplate/flywheel but then again it would end up being a constant shake at certain speeds... very odd if it only happens on bumps... did you check out everything on the axel? make sure there wasnt any wobles on the joints? ive had it happen before on my car if i hit a really big bump at high speeds even after i fixed the frive shaft but thats the only time it ever happened... just big bumps doign liek 40 or more... never happens any other time so i dont care... what causes it i have no clue

I checked everything. There is no excessive movement in any of the joints. It seemed to happen less often after I put in the new drag link. It wasnt that it needed to be replaced, it's that it was missing completely when I bought the car.

are your springs struts all in good shape... not overly worn... even then i wouldnt expect a shake but you never know... usually you just get the boat bounce when they go out... have you ever done a rear wheel alienment? alot of people over look that if its off even by a little bit you whack a bump it will pretty much just shake the rear back and forth from the axel up untill it smooths out again... any shake you have in the drive line itself from the motor back to the axel is going to shake your ass and the shifter... if its a front end suspension prob usually its the steering wheel and front wobble... there is alot of things it could be pushing all the way back... engine balance off... flywheel/flexplate is off... transmission could have a bad spot... joints or driveshaft... axel could have a stripped gear or something... there are so many things it could be i dont know really how you would find it without just going down the line... a cheep but not so safe way...lol toss it up on jackstand or block far from the ground but stable... put it in gear have someone gas it a little for you and just watch from front to back... see if anything looks outta whack when its moving... otherwise i would say take it to a shop... have someone check it out... cuase by the time you track down the problem you will probably have replaced half of it...lol but good luck.. wish i could be more help

Yeah, I drove it to pick up a couple of pizzas today, after I replaced the drag link, and it hasn't been doing it. The torsion bar only had one link on it for a while, and I think it is back where it's supposed to be now. Anyway, thanks for your help. I looked at the rusty drifeshaft, and there are no spots where a weight would've fallen off. I don't really know if it's fixed or not, but I'm not going to worry about it. Oh yeah, I did check the shocks, struts, and coils, and they are all in proper working order. No boat bounce or anything. I think it's alright now, so I'm not going to worry about it until it comes back.

Yeah....i would say if it comes back...you would probably save yourself a lot of time and money to just take it to a shop/dealer and have them figure it out. but hey...if it's fixed for now....drive the shit outta it till something else goes wrong!

this one is pretty obvious, but have you made sure your lug nuts havent come loose? it doesnt happen often, but a loose wheel would definitely do that.
