Not sure on mine, I had issues the only time I went, with valve float and spring problems, I still did 390 rwhp, not sure on the tq.
The car weighed 3700 lbs the day I went to the track and it couldn't go WOT for the first 4 seconds due to traction ( or lack of). It will run mid 11's on sticky tires. Should be in the 420-430 rwhp range now. Not too concerned about the dyno numbers now, the tune is on so the track numbers are more important.

I had to go with the cowl, being that the intake sits roughly 3 inches higher than a dual plane (Team G high rise single plane)and wouldn't fit under the stock '79 Z hood. I thought of just raising the body of the scoop, but when I drew it out, now THAT looked goofy.

As it sits right now, I built a floor in the cowl of the harwood and the air filter sits maybe 1/4" from the top of the cowl. The floor also seems the shelter the carb from a lot of the engine heat.

True there. Too bad they don't have a shaker for that year.

Given someone who is an expert in doing this, what do you think a professional job would cost to do it?

For a professional Job?? $1,000's. IMO 99% of all aftermarket fiberglass hoods are usually unfinished. You can usually see all of the matting/fiber glass strands on the bottom side. To make it look professional it should be finished with body filler, primer and paint.
You would have to cut out the current frame/brace and make a new brace, then decdie how to make/route the ram air scoops to the air cleaner
You would need an air cleaner base/rubber seal to seal to hood. Re paint the bottom of hood forsure and maybe the top.
                          You have to get creative....

Its alot to think about. I hate Body work!!! I won;t be doing body work any time soon. My next neat car a driver with lots of go juice.

A task like that is very hard to quote. Most places will just charge you time and materials like our shop does. If someone said, We can do it for $xxx.00, either the customer or the shops gets screwed. Shops don't like loosing money, and then some people will take short cuts etc. You have to be very clear the body guy what you want to leave with.

Your thinking of painting the firebird??

Well yes i am going to be getting it repainted hopefully teh same color. Why you ask? Well some of the body needs alignment and there are some runs in the paint. You may never see it but i do! I just want it close as it can to perfection! I was always taught to do it the right way.
