I never thought I'd see Cobalt, HHR, and Trailblazer mentioned as a "performance portfolio."

Yep, and the best part is all three vehicles are very fast.

It's the Special Olympics. Yeah, you're fast. Yeah, it makes you feel good. But you're still retarded. (and I don't mean this directed at you, Kyle, or anyone for that matter... I'm talking about the cars...) While I wouldn't say the Cobalt SS, HHR SS, and Trailblazer SS are retarded it's just not the market I would want a performance Camaro associated with. The current "SS Performance Portfolio" is taking an average, every day vehicle and stuffing healthy horsepower into it. I'd rather the Camaro be associated with the LEGENDARY, HERITAGE Performance Portfolio.

            It always has been.

What was the Nova? The Malibu/Chevelle? How about the Monte Carlo, the Impala, the ElCamino? Sure the Camaro was a "sporty" car back in the day, but you could always get a base I-6 model. All normal cars.

Then they put the SS badge on it, and a bigger/more powerful engine, and you had yourself an SS Nova or a Malibu SS...

The only vehicle that hasn't seen an SS badge yet is the Corvette, because it truly is Legendary.

True, but at the same time the Camaro has been around long enough to have that established status. Corvette is legendary, and atleast IMHO the Camaro is just as legendary and should be treated the same way as the Corvette has been - above the "SS" moniker.

The only people that gripe about the Cobalt SS, TBSS, and HHR SS are the ones that havnt been in one. Seriously, go for a ride in one and you will see that they have more muscle than expected.

I got to ride in a new SS Turbo Cobalt this last weekend and let me tell you...LT1 cars may be being beat this summer. No lift shift and launch control are amazing features that actually work. I was shocked at the performace, and haldeling...in the winter, of this little car.

Drove a TBSS with Joel at the 40th show at the tech center....lots of fun.

Its not like they are putting a COPO sticker on these cars, just an SS emblem.

To this day Cobalt SS is faster around Nurburgring than the 2010 Camaro SS, thats a fact.

If it were truly perceived as "legendary" it never would have been cancelled in the first place.

We're just biased because it's the cars we like.

The rest of society obviously has a different opinion.

You guys need to study your history a little more. The Corvette was the first Chevrolet to wear the SS name.

Automotive history is filled with a series of "what-ifs," and few of these "what-ifs" are as intriguing to Corvette racing fans as the 1957 Corvette SS project. In the early days before the Corvette was an American icon, and at the time even in danger of being discontinued by GM management, one obvious tactic to shore up the Corvette's sports car image and spur sales was to institute a racing program. Thus was born the short-lived Corvette SS project, with the initial goal of winning at Sebring. Led by the gifted Zora Arkus-Duntov, a team of engineers created this ultra-lightweight (1850 lbs) and powerful (307 bhp) racecar.
Success at Sebring for this stunning racer was unfortunately not in the cards. Although the SS was extremely fast for its day (top recorded speed of 183 mph), a series of mechanical problems forced it to retire after 23 laps in the Sebring 12-Hour race. Shortly thereafter, the ban on factory-sponsored racing efforts by the Detroit manufacturers spelled the end of the SS project.

I don't think anyone is talking about the previous history of SS, I think the point moreso was that currently Corvette has been permitted to fly above the "SS" moniker with the ZR1.

                                It's the holy of holies.

                                The Camaro does not compare.

And I don't know how you can say that it "flies above the SS moniker"...the ZR1 IS it's SS moniker...
