Hybrid Camaro/Price Hike?

I wasn't being literal, just trying to make a point. My 3.4L gets pretty decent MPG, I'll be honest. I didn't buy it for that though. I bought it for a fun car. It seems kinda dumb to have a hybrid/green/mpg version of a performance car. They kinda contradict each other. It won't be a sales dissapointment probably, because hybrids are trendy now, but it seems like the 4cyl mustang all over again to me...Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View Posti dont know if id go that far.
1 year ago i was VERY close to selling my truck and finding a 3.8L 5-speed f-body for my daily driver. My buddy averages 26 city with his and its still a very fun car to drive so why not

I hate the EPA, CAFE and all that bullshit.
No one cares about hybrids when it comes to the Camaro. No one cares about ϋber-gas-mileage when purchasing a Camaro. No one wants to pay more for a Camaro because of some worthless performance-decreasing add-on.

I think they would be better off making the car lighter, or making a turbo V6 car. I don't think it would be difficult to make a 400 horse engine that gets near 30mpg average. I could be wrong, but it should be possible.

make the car lighter and now youve got NHTSA banging on your door instead of CAFE.Originally posted by transampimp View PostI think they would be better off making the car lighter, or making a turbo V6 car. That's why I voted for Ron Paul. Congress shouldn't have a say in how safe/how efficient cars are. It's not the governments place. And if they really want to do something about it, why not do something about the damn gas prices instead of taking it out on the car companies? Doesn't make any sense to me...Originally posted by DanO View Postyeah i will agree there... pretty much damned if you do, damned if you dont..

I.. on the otherhand dont think that the auto manufactuers have any incentive besides government to make the vehicles more fuel efficient.. They just need to steadily and slowly increase efficiency and they will continue to have buyers..
However, the part i hate.. is that they will have trouble targeting the #1 problem with the automobile today.. Obesity.. fat overweight hunks of metal that are a 5000lb bullet to any moron who can walk into the secretary of states office..
I vote the new cap on vehicle wieght be 2500lbs unless you have a CDL

I hear the Senator that came up with the new EPA bill was from Michigan. WHAT THE HELL!!!!. Does the government want to kill the american muscle car?. Better yet do they want to kill the American Automakers.
What really ticks me off is most of these senators are driving Escalades and huge SUVs or some expensive car that gets crap for mpg
If they want to help to ecomony with a stimulus package then why dome give the automakers some big help. But I guess thats to easy for them.
