Talking to my neighbor who works at the proving grounds he tells me the next gen, Z28 will have 550 hp (super charged) and the SS will be the lesser with 400+.
I would like one of the Z28's
Also he states they are the same body as the concept cars.

Hmm. So your saying that the Z28 will look more like the concept car rather than the mule?
I am trying to figure out what engine combination would give you 550 HP with a SC? An LS1 car stock is around 315 HP. With a factory supercharger you should only see around 400 HP. Maybe an LS2 or an LS7? Or maybe GM has something up their sleeve?

He did not say . But it would have to be a ls2 or ls7 I would think.
And the sheet metal is the same as the concept.
I am shocked that the Z28 will have more HP then the SS?
Now this is coming from my neighbor. He also said as of now cars should be out next spring . (not this spring) Long time for things to change.

Any new car from GM that has 550 would have the detuned version of the LS9 from the CTS V. LS2 is dead (hello LS3) and I thought LS7 was too expensive to build on volume basis.
Recently, at the tech center, there was a ls9 being fit into a camaro with a different style front facia than the concept. I thought it would just be for powertour, (like the v8 solstice they did) but hopefully I am wrong.
no wayy can they detune a LS9 and make it affordable enough for a 30-40k car. I think it will be an entirely new motor we haven't seen yet. def. not an LS1 or LS2 or LS6 LS7. it'll be somthin completley new like LS3..4...5 this is just what i think.
The way it should be. IMO Z28 should be the top option, its specific to the Camaro, and SS isn't. If I was to ever buy one of these it wouldn't be an SS, it'd be a Z28, top model or not. My hope is that they do it right, and make the Z the top dog.
