I was told the Z27 would be the top dog. To compete with the 500 hp Mustang ? kr500 ??????

He was not sure if they would offer 2 or 3 V8 to pick from.

    And a v6
The Z28 would be in the 40K range.
Makes you think of what they will do with the base Vette?
Remember this is from my neighbor who works at GM. Not from me.

You have to wait for that to happen. There are no more birds being produced. Only older models. Anyhow I prefer roasting shimp (Camaros) than chicken.

settlemeire has hinted that that was the way it was going to be. IMO its the way it should be too. Z28 originated as an equally fast car that handled way better than an SS. The only time SS ever got ahead of Z28 was with the 4th gens when SLP got the contract... so technically that wasnt even a GM produced SS.

A 550hp Z28 would absolutely tickle me pink

The SS could be had with the 396 big block and the Z28 had the 302 small block for trans am racing I believe. You could also get a SS with a 350
                  I think.

GM Is now making a SS in almost every thing. (not good IMO
SO that being said bring on theZ28

I thought i remember seeing somewhere that GM had made an ls3 engine that was suppose to have like 50 more hp than the ls2 right from the start, don't know if this makes to much of a difference, but just thought i would throw that out there.

Z28 was just as fast as any non 427 camaro, its just the z28 could handle too.

LS3 Corvettes have been rolling around for a good year now.

The cross-ram DZ302 and 375hp 396s were a dead heat in the quarter-mile. Some go far as saying the 302 was faster, i think it was a drivers race as well as who's carberator was adjusted better.

Whats funny is the 302 was only rated at 290hp

and yes... first gen SS's came with a 350, 3 of them if i remember correctly...

Not quite that long, but they've been around for a little while now. They debuted in the 2008 Corvette.
