Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Looking into getting a full set of Bilstein HDs for the Camaro
Looking into getting a full set of Bilstein HDs for the Camaro
Hey guys, I'm in dire need of new shocks all around (still running the stocks with 138k miles), and I found a set and am planning on buying some Bilstein HDs for 300. I'm assuming this is a really good price, but my main question is: are these shocks worth it? You can spend around 100 bucks on a set of OEMs, but how much better are the Bilsteins? And since I'm not a guru on suspension, what can I expect out of these shocks in terms of length of life, standout characteristics, etc... Thanks in advance!
Maybe Kevin will chime in as he just replaced his original Decarbons with bilsteins so he can comment on how he likes(or doesn't) them.
You get what you pay for but it really depends how you use the car and what is important to you.
IMO replacing a wore out damper with a new replacement make a HUGE difference. Upgrading the damper will change the ride/handling some but that might not be important to you. A fair comparison would compare a wore out dampner vs new replacement vs upgraded.
On my car I replaced the decarbons with Monroes as I couldn't justify the extra $200 for bilsteins as the car was just a DD for me.
I have the slp spec bilsteins on my z with slp spring. Great.
I used to have that exact setup on my car. It sat good and rode nice. I have the bilsteins in my F250 (5100 lifted shocks) and I'm not impressed with them over my old stock blown out ones lol
Yep, for all the negative comments I have read on *un named sites* my car rides great, handels great, and looks great. Got a couple thousand miles on them and they still arnt blown with my car sitting on its roof on fire either.
I think nate has gabriels up front and monroes in the rear.
same thing made by the same people

I've got Bilsteins on my Camaro and am VERY pleased with how they perform. They are a firm riding damper but in a sports car it makes it feel how it should.

He was saying that Monroe and Gabriel shocks where the same....
I upgraded to them last year. Definitely a firmer ride that stock. Feels more like a sportier car and less like a lincoln now. Overall I love them, but some of the roads up here in the Flint area are rough enough to knock your fillings loose with these shocks. If I had to do it again I would in a heartbeat, no question.
