Greased Lightning stained the powder coat on my Bel Air TPI intake, had to get it baked off.

I would get some better brake pads. The brake dust has metal particles in it that can get into a painted surface.

Dont get me wrong, these pads bite harder than anything ive ever used before. They suck until they're warmed up, but once you get a few stops in the brakes really wake up.

But I cant have this crap.

Some good suggestions so far. I will try them when I get home.

I havent noticed any difference at all from the basic pads i had before. Never noticed any difference with heat like you say either. I will probably never buy another set even though they have held up very well so far. I also still get a high pitched squeal with just the right ammount of pedal pressure. Jons did the same thing on his C5.

Odd, I've never really had brake dust issues from HPS pads like that. I mean, granted, I have steelies - but when I washed them to Plasti-Dip them, there was hardly any dust on there...

I love the pads though. Normal stopping is like stock pads, but as you said - when they warm up, they're excellent.

I bought the Hawk HPS because I thought they were supposed to be less dusty. Mine dust the same, if not more, than regular pads.

I did some REAL stops this weekend, 100+ to 0 and they stopped EXCELLENT but squeaked and squealed for a few miles after that.

the pads I had before my Hawks must have been horrid because mine dust way less and the stopping power is a night and day difference.

                          I'd say clay bar.

I've had good success using Malco Rejuvinator (essentially rubbing compound) on my white wheels. It seems anytime I drive the car in the rain and the wheels get heated up, I end up with streaks/stains that normal washing won't/can't remove.

Takes a little "elbow grease" but this Rejuvinator has worked everytime to remove the stains, and doesn't hurt the finish on the wheel.
