  • I run Brad Penn from Brian and it has the zinc in the oil. Have had no issues and with the prices of oil Brian is very competitive.

    • Brad Penn has a good reputation.

I run a Lucas zinc additive...only so my OCD side knows exactly how much zinc is actually in there...

      • Sounds good - I know the old girl probably would like some zinc - doubt my uncle ever added that in, judging by the oil that came in the trunk which is...a brand of some sort?

        I'll shoot Brian a text.

Zinc used to be included in most motor oils...they started pulling it out maybe 10 years ago.

Sooo...now you get to buy the expensive stuff, or buy a zinc additive.

I'm approaching soapbox material on some of this now...

                  • Good deal - Brad Penn it is.

For tires, I decided just to stick with the stock 225/70R15. I'm going to switch to 17s, so why spend the extra on tires for a smaller wheel that I likely won't use that long.

The white letter tire will look more period-correct than blackwalls on the 15s.

Plus, the smaller will help with the (likely miserable) fuel economy.

Dude, if you drive this ever, even once, thinking about effing "fuel economy", you just need to sell it to me...

                      Now...

                      It's like saying a Model T is unsafe...live a little bit...lol

I don't own this car for the fuel economy. But if something I do happens to better it, I'm certainly not going to complain.

                        • Radial T/A 225/70R15s and Bilstein B6 shocks purchased. That hurt a little. The tires + shocks are barely more than the Cobalt's tires cost, so it's not so bad.

Got a response from the SOS - I can bring the signed title, a written bill of sale, and the lien release to the office and do not need to wait for the California DMV to **** up again.

                            • Certainly - Tire Rack just shipped the order.

They actually called to confirm the tire size, because they list a 235/60R15 as the factory size, which is not at all correct, but the 225/70R15s are taller.

225/70R15 is the correct size for the Z28, says it on the door, in the brochure, on Camaro sites, all that. Maybe he'll make mention of that. . I got a good laugh about it.
