  • [Project] Back in an F-body, time for a turbo!

Well that didn't take long did it? Out of the fbody ownership for about 89 days but who is keeping track?

Grab a drink and a snack
    .......

After selling my pride an joy that had its many ups and downs and a lot of money later, I realized I needed to get back into a fast, money pit something.

(the old 93, don't mind the ugly mug, i was focusing on not hitting the camera man)

I wasn't sure if I wanted a C5 Z06, Base C6, a roller fbody or a pristine 98-02. So I finally decided in the middle, something that wasn't perfect but wasn't ragged out that wouldn't see the road for years.

Recently after selling my 93, I proposed to my girlfriend of 6.5 years. I had her pretty brain washed that it wasn't coming until end of the summer 2015.

Now I KNEW I had to get another car and quick!

My price range was 6500 max. I really didn't want to spend over 6 but would for the right car. Its surprising how many stupid people are on craigslist. We will save the stories for another day.

After checking out a few cars that just didn't fit the bill, my buddy got ahold of me and said he found a car for me.

    2002 Sunset orange metallic Z28, A4, TTops, 117k miles.

Now, enough of my last 3 months of life stories, on to the pictures!!!

As you can see, some tlc is needed to make her (in my eyes) perfect or should I say 'more appealing'.

On the near future "to-do" list.

    - Paint front bumper (fortunately I know a guy )
    - Paint the rear bumper (better color match, its a little red)
    - Lower it! Nick gave me a set of Intrax springs, they are around a 2" drop Worst case scenario I put the stockers back on or cut my stockers.
    - Throw on the widened 10 spokes, I still need a set of tires for the front 2. ( need someone to school me on spacers/ adapters )
    - Clean the heck out of it. Engine bay needs a degreasing and powerwashing for sure. Ill be taking it to work and running the wheel on it for a few hours.
    - Nick was also kind enough to let me borrow his SLP lid until he is ready to swap his on his LT1.
    - TINT, i already can't stand the fishbowl Fortunately I have been doing some paint work for A2 customs so in return they will be tinting it. I'm still undecided if ill be doing the sides 5% or not. I currently have my Fusion 5% all the way around and 35% on the windshield.
    - Ill have a body guy tear into the drivers door, it might need a new regulator.
    - Whistlering the headlights and clearcoating them. Maybe even grind down the little adjustment knobs too.
    - Paint the mirrors black.

As for the turbo build. I already bought in on Huron Speeds group purchase that just ended about a month ago. Yes, I put the carriage before the horse
I don't know alot about turbo builds but I have been reading and researching as much as possible. Currently I have the hot side and cold side, intercooler, mounting brackets, turbo blanket, bov, clamps.

    Ill still need:
    - 80lb injectors
    - Fuel pump(s) unsure at this moment on what route to go.
    - Wastegate
    - Turbo
    - Tubular K
    - Derale fans

I'm sure there is a ton I am forgetting at the moment. I will also need a bunch of suspension stuff and figure out what I am going to do with the trans.
My goal is around 600rwhp, reliably.

    Thanks for looking!!! Stay tuned

Not sure. I planned on keeping it until it blows but once the turbo goes in I don't see it being long. LS1 t56s aren't cheap. Neither is a built auto. Ahhhh real world problems.

I can't wait to watch this build! I've learned a few things along the way so don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have.

Ya thats a great price for tires!!

Im not sure how you did it but you stole that car. Wayyyy too clean for the price. Extremely desirable color and black leather. Cant wait to see what you do with it, the perfect blank canvas.

So, I came across an oem ss hood and spoiler for $500. Thinking about going and picking them up. Only downside is ill be already painting the bumper, the fenders will need to be blended for color match. the quarters will need to be blended for color match, I'm already spraying the rear bumper. lol, that leaves me with the doors. I might as well do a full respray at that point.

Can someone fill me in on wheel spacers? I don't want to bang in my rear inner quarters to get my 17x11s to fit like i had to do on the 93. I have never put adapters or spacers on so I don't know what to look for. I really only need 1/4 on each side but I'm sure more would be beneficial.

Also I found a set of 10 spokes for 200. One has a crack but I really only need 2 of them. I don't know that I want do dd this in the summer and get caught in the rain with my drag radials.
