thanks guys, maybe saturday (assuming the wife doesn't care) I could throw an open invite out to anyone who wants to swing by, I really only have a handful of things to do to get it going, but its just been hard to find the time, but things seem like they have finally slowed down and I am finding more time to work on the car. I am determined to have it at the meet and greet.. even if that means towing it there (last resort)

small update, finally got the edelbrock carb rebuilt.. I'm thinking this weekend will be the swap over from the qjet to the edelbrock. woohoo!

not much to update, I got real sick for about 2 weeks, and we had some family stuff that came up, but I'll be getting some work done to the car this week! finally!
Also, was just offered a complete 5.3 engine again with only 80k miles for $500, including wiring harness and all accessories.. so tempting (especially since I haven't started the 383 build yet)

Ok, So I am finally starting back on this car lol!
I cleaned up the garage so I can actually do work out there, so I am finally getting this thing going lol!
I picked up an edelbrock 2101 intake manifold for $25, the guy even threw in the intake gaskets too, so that is good!
basically I just need to start knocking stuff off the list.. this weekend I should be able to at least get the car back on all 4 wheels. maybe I'll buy some beers and see if anyone wants to come over and knock out these little things with me.
I'll probably start on the edelbrock carb rebuild here in the next couple days (tearing down and soaking it)Last edited by Jdseibe; March 21st, 2016, 12:10 PM.

Ok.. sorry for no updates recently.. the car has been sitting for a bit untouched.. I feel horrible.. but with the M&G coming up soon.. I decided to list out what needs to be done to get the car on the road..
- adjust/bleed rear brakes (they are on, just need the lines hooked up, and bleed. these are the old delco calipers, so they need adjusted via the e-brake cable)
- swap on the new tires (I have these sitting in my garage, just need mounted and balanced)
- buy/install windshield wiper motor (in case it rains)
- figure out how to keep t-tops for leaking (in case it rains)
- buy/install fan switch so I don't overheat
- install torque converter lockup kit (already own, just need to install it)
- install carpet and interior (won't be perfect but at least it will be together)
- block off cowl opening (so that water doesn't drip down on engine/distributor if it rains, the power bulge vacuum stuff is missing, so its just an open hole)
- replace qjet with edelbrock carb and intake (own the new carb already, the qjet is warped and leaks gas and probably vacuum leaks)
- replace and hookup heater core (this isn't needed, but will be nice to have done)
- replace stock muffler with flowmaster ( I have one laying around)
- insure/plates/tags
the list seems kinda big.. but really for the most part this stuff is pretty simple.. just need to get it done.. I have about 4 months to get this stuff done.. and I have no excuse not to have this on the road this year!!

Time for an update on the project.
As some of you may know, my wife and I just had our baby a few weeks ago. so it had put the car on hold because of money and time. now that things have settled down some I made some decisions.. I decided that the most important thing for the car right now is to just get it going, and not worrying about the future build. So I sold the 5.3 and bought the last couple things to get the car drivable.
The stuff that was keeping me from moving forward was the rear brakes and battery. So I went ahead and bought all new brake stuff since it was ALL worn out.. even the calipers were seized, I know this would have been a decent time to upgrade brakes.. but I decided that since at this point the car is stock anyways.. that I would just stick with stock replacement calipers. ultimately the 9bolt and rear brakes will be upgraded down the road.. so for now this works.
I put the new battery in and started her up last night, and boy was it a pain... the Q-Jet is just not wanting to cooperate with me.. I messed with it forever last night and its just giving me issues..
I think I may just give in and try to find a holley/intake for a deal.
So hopefully I get a little time this weekend to get the last few things buttoned up and maybe I can actually get a drive in before the snow comes.

The systems may have changed over the years (the switch most certainly would have with the '85 interior refresh), but my '88 has the Performance Sound system. It uses the on/off switch and slide control seen on the left side of this photo, just above the Goodwrench alarm keypad. They control a separate amplifier, and two 4" or so subs. Those subs, along with a 2nd pair of 4x6s (like the ones in the dash) are in the quarter trim, same place as a conventional stereo's 6x9s.

hey 92conv does your 84 have the "performance sound" option? I was curious how it worked, is there a button to turn the amp on? any chance you could take a few pics? haha

Its a website/app called Trello, its a project tool, mostly used for a group of people to collaborate on projects together. I am using it basically for a tracking tool for my project so I know what is going on with the car and what is still needed to be done, its pretty handy.Originally posted by TylerT/AZ28 View Postwhat is that^
