Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Got some progress this weekend: The block was washed and painted. I decieded to go with an aluminum paint for the block, and VHT Fire Red for the valve/valley covers. I installed the H3 oil pan kit which allows it to be mounted w/o notching the frame. I installed the Livernois stage 2 camshaft and valve springs. I also installed the B&M shift kit in the tranny. Feels good to be moving forward! Next thing is mating the two and installing them. Hope this week will supply the right weather for it.
Made some progress over the weekend. Before I put the engine in I was able to paint the frame. I removed the bed to get to the frame in the rear, which allowed me to swap the fuel pump without having to drop the tank. Engine should be going in soon!

The engine went in this weekend. It was a tight fit. To install with the tranny attached, the body had to be lifted a few inches. I loosened the rear body mount bolts on the cab, and removed the front bolts. After lifting the front of the cab about 5 inches, it was high enough to clear the oil pan with the tranny clearing the firewall tunnel. The back of the motor was hitting the firewall, not allowing me to get it over the frame mounts, until the tail of the transmission was lifted with the jack. This tilted the engine just enough to clear the firewall and drop down on the mounts. In this vid you can see the motor touching the firewall before I jacked the rear of the tranny up and supported it with the crossmember. But all in all, its a straight forward swap like anything else. Here are some pics and a short video.
Guess its time to revive this thread. The truck is almost complete. Just came from B & L Driveshaft on E. 9 Mile just east of Schoenher. The shaft was original to the truck. Evidently the T-5 that came in it and the 4L60e I put in have the same spline output shaft, so I did'nt have to buy a new yoke. The charged me $50 to cut it to length and balance it. Great guys to deals with! Second shaft I have had them cut down and the work is great. Fit like a glove. Here is a link to a few update vids I shot recently.
Glad i seen this thread. Read thru the whole build. I also have a ls swapped s10 blazer. Have to check it out some time
Did you install the transmission linse prior to dropping the setup in? I didn't so I have to possibly lift the cab a few inches to get clearance to the tranny. I hope to get it that way, I really don't want to pull the motor/trans back out. I'm pulling the interior out today and making a cover for the hole where the 5 speed came up through the floor. I plan to mount my Quickslver there. I'm debating putting my seats from my 4th Gen in there to make me upgrade the interior in my Bird.
Got the truck running. I'm using a pcm that was tuned for a TH400. Is there any tuners availible that can tell me if I need to have it gone into again in order to control the 4L60e that is behind it now?
Long time since an update on my S10. The junkyard 5.3 ate a piston after 22 miles.......! I ended up letting the thing sit over the winter of 13. In 2014 I built a mild LS1 for it, but only ran it for a few minutes in the truck, never took it on the road. I ended up with a deal I couldn't pass up. A buddy of mine traded me a LM7 (5.3L), a L76 (aluminum 6L with the L92 heads), and the 60e that was with the 5.3L for the complete dropout that was in my truck. I decided to go turbo on the truck too. That's kinda the reason I haven't finished my Firebird build yet either. He are some vids of my first outing with it:
