update
hope you guys don't mind but im going to take a moment here to post a quick thanks to my buddy gary. he lurks around here checking on the build, he has opened his garage up for me, even pushing out his projects to bring my car in. and there couldn't be a better person to teach than one that really drives to learn.
so gary if your reading this Huge thanks man! thanks for the use of your garage and all the help you have been. I couldn't do it without you. seems now in days you my muscle and you really have my back.
today I came up with a idea for my exhaust manifold and gary jumped in and knocked it out of the park for me. nothing I couldn't have done, but he is deffinatly better with a cutting wheel than me. and it looks like the idea and team work solved the problem. pictures below.
the stock truck manifolds where hitting everything on the passanger side. and just plain ugly on the drivers side. so this is what we came up with.

Why not reroute the belt under the pump? I've done this before, if you relocate the idler on the alternator bracket you can get a good wrap around the crank, ps pulley and water pump. Spacers work, but it's two more potential leaks. Truck pumps are cheap. That, or run an LS3 Camaro pump. It runs on the exact same belt centerline as the trucks do.Originally posted by masterfab View PostThat won't work. I just tryed it. dirty dingo make a spacer for the f body water pump so it will work with the truck acc. All you need is the pump and the belt.

Re: 87 Buick Regal Single 76mm turbo 5.3l/4l80E budget build
The problem isn't with the idler pulley its with the Lokar throttle cable and tb throttle arm hitting the water pump spout. There only a few ways to fix the problem. one being ls3 water pump (still pricey even used) the other is a ls1 water pump. Also price plus spacers are needed. The fix I will problebly do is remove the water spout and weld it shut, the mill the front blanked embossment out and install the spout there. Just like a ls3. but cheaper.Originally posted by beertestr View PostWhy not reroute the belt under the pump? Didnt a guy on TGO but your logs? if so I think I seen them for sale on there again in the last 3 months, might want to check'91 Camaro Modded, LSx, House of Kolor Intense White, lowered, GS chrome 18" wheels, 14" Brembo CTS-V on all 4 corners, LS rear end, FP suspension components

The 07 truck pumps have an angled outlet instead of the pipe being bent. Those usually clear the throttle body.Originally posted by masterfab View PostThe problem isn't with the idler pulley its with the Lokar throttle cable and tb throttle arm hitting the water pump spout. This one. Sorry, small pic I found online. I am running this pump. IIRC, its on the 07+ trucks, the current body style.

You probably have this one, which they made with a fat pulley and a narrkw pulley. This is the narrow pulley.

There is one that also has a straight fitting instead of bent IIRC.
Last thought, depending on the mount brackets you are running, you might be able to fit the truck intake under the hood of your Regal. I have seen truck intakes under 78-83 Malibus and 78-87 Monte's. Fixes all you water pump problems. I have a couple of them if you want to try it.
note... not sure if my pics loaded, just google 2009 silverado pump if they dont. You'll see what I mean. I'll look in the hoard in the basement to see if I have a pump i can take a pic of.

Re: 87 Buick Regal Single 76mm turbo 5.3l/4l80E budget build
Yes. The only difference is that in later years they eliminated one of the 3 bolts that hold the tensioner to the pump. The two ears on the top of the pump are all that's used now.Originally posted by masterfab View Postyour right I have the second pump, quick question will the stock tensioner pully fit on the 07 water pump?
