87 Buick Regal Single 76mm turbo 5.3l/4l80E budget build

Is the 4L80E like the 4L60E when it comes to valve body bolts? I had all but ONE off, no reverse and very hit/miss shifting. I could hit all manually with EFIlive controlling the trans.

Yes and no. The valve body is a beefier designed vavle body.

This trans has never been opened up. It literaly is always in gear. even when its in park and neutral. There only one thing that means. That the clutch is welded. When you try to put it in reverse it just fights itself. and jumps forward. When you try to rev it in park you can tell it laboring bad and being held back. As it revs like any car you put in gear and try giving gas with the brake pushed down. Grrr it just sucks.

Freaked me out at first. And I forgot it was common In 4l80E's till I talked to Jakes performance and he reminded me. Always a bummer when someone says what you don't want to hear. lol.

I'll pledge the 1st $25 toward good used 4l80. Seems good trans range from $250-$600 depending on the seller. I'd think we'd be able to raise that kind of money pretty easily.

Maybe we can get some east side guys to come do the R&R?
