Certainly makes sense to me! Just sucks you put all the work into the Bird to eventually part ways with it, though it sounds like it's not all for nothing - you were able to find it a good home, and most of the stuff can be repurposed anyway.

Yup, definitely not what i had planned. Spend almost 11 years putting every cent into the bird only to sell it. Definitely was a little sad but in the end the g8 will have the heart of it and will be a more usable car so i think i’ll be good with it in the end.sigpic

So what are the tips and tricks to keeping that independent rear alive with the extra power you will be making. And what sort of power will you be making?DynoDave

I'm hoping as long as it never gets traction it won't break. Going to put a pretty soft ramp in the boost so it doesn't hit the rear end too hard. Mostly stick to roll racing and burnouts for fun until it has strong stuff and don't really plan to track it too often. When I do I will run a slick so that they have a little give to them as well. I already know that down the road it will need upgrades to live forever. ZL1 diffs (9.9" gear I think)are good for 8s and sell for around $2000, and a couple places make 1000hp axles for around $1500 so it won't be far off from the what the 9" setup in the bird cost.Originally posted by DynoDave View PostSo what are the tips and tricks to keeping that independent rear alive with the extra power you will be making. Hoping it can make 800ish to the wheels but really have no idea. I plan to put an air to water IC in the intake this fall and that will drop intake temps a ton so we can make a lot more power.
With 150 degree intake temps it made 485whp (about 160 more than NA) on a mustang dyno at 7psi with no timing (my max timing is 13 degrees, and the pull was less than that) once it's all done we should be running 20-23ish psi. Ricer math says if it picked up160hp on 7psi I should pick up 480 on 21psi and make around 855whp. Tons of variables though. Old dyno numbers were with a t56 and 9', now it has a glide and stock caprice diff. Was stock pistons, now has a little lower compression.DynoDave likes this.sigpic
