hmmmm theres piles and piles of guys going that fast on the 5.3, idk what size turbo but it sounds right on par for that small of a motor... if there's enough weight taking out of the car, and it gets pushed enough i'd be willing to bet all day long it does go that fast... like i said you don't give up on a good running car that goes 10's to go a couple tenths faster, shoot if he wanted to do that he could of put some 150 pills on it and crack 9's with a rear gear change assuming he was running a NA gear... it is nice seeing the build progress anyways, i need to start a build thread seeing as mine is a tin can right now lol.... and ya i know just having funOriginally posted by kammi10 View PostLOL this thing isnt going to go that fast with that baby turbo on it and a 5.3.... this car is far far from what Ryans car is
i don't know... but you dont have to run super fast to put it on the bumper, just really good suspension, loose shocks up front, good weight transfer, and a good working powertrain.... it does however require a considerable amount of power to put it on the bumper a third of the way down the track like he didOriginally posted by Lucky SOB View PostI'm guessing you'll need to run faster than that to even have a race with Ryan. He put that car on the bumper!

Stock shortblock record is held by a 5.3 with a 7675 on itOriginally posted by kammi10 View PostLOL this thing isnt going to go that fast with that baby turbo on it and a 5.3.... this car is far far from what Ryans car is
That being said we don't plan on getting anywhere close to that record. Sean is right the turbo thats on the car right now might not have the steam to even go 9.anything.
We do have plans to go fast just no $$

You're on crack! No way in hell is this car even close to those times, it will be a legit 3900lbs + due to all the weight were adding to a car that wasn't light to begin with. Not to mention our limited budget, lack of experience, and medicore wrenching skills. I wish we could go that fast but mark my words I will not be surprised to see some 11 second slips first time were out with it. It's a lot of work to do to go possibly slower or maybe a tad faster but the work goes into the ability to add power by turning up the boost and upgrading the turbo when were ready. Like I said no matter how long I kept it n/a or put a shot on it I'd eventually go turbo at some point.Originally posted by dawdaw View Postpshhh this thing is gonna be fast..... i got money on it goes low to mid 9's depending on how much you push it and how much weight you take out of it... you don't sell a 10 sec na set up to go the same speed lol... When you racing bilkos.. turbo ls vs turbo ls...Doing less with more

No crack here just crystal meth! And damn that's a heavy car... I didn't know if you'd be gutting it to like 3200lbs or leaving it full weight... Ill still say once its fully dialed in and the boost gets put to it it wil go a high high nineOriginally posted by DETROITMUSCLE View PostYou're on crack! it was 3700lbs last year when it went 10s, the iron block is like 80ish lbs more, all the turbo stuff is prob 120ish and I'm really not planning on taking anything out of it. So racing Bilkos, well I'm sure that was a little joke
but I will race your car no problem.

Well said!!! Most people can't believe that I only picked up .2 sec after going through all the work to add a turbo. They don't seem to understand that I'm now running mostly OEM engine components (except head studs) and more power is just a knob turn away. If it blows....a new engine is $500. I had almost 3x that into my old heads!!!Originally posted by DETROITMUSCLE View PostIt's a lot of work to do to go possibly slower or maybe a tad faster but the work goes into the ability to add power by turning up the boost and upgrading the turbo when were ready.

Your just getting started - get some gears add fuel/boost to that thing and see what happens.Originally posted by 1999Black_Z28 View PostWell said!!! on a serious note, your car didnt 60' half bad, once you guys get past the learning curve and get used to everything. this setup has potential to be a pretty quick car. like johnquick says "junk runs" lol

sure its got potential its a turbo LS motor and huron speed is helping any way they can it should be fast, I'm just being realistic with it being our first time building an FI car I know there will be bugs to work out. Never driven a turbo car even, never driven a th400, never used a trans brake, never had to setup front and rear adjustable shocks, ect.. lots of firsts and I'd be a fool to think it will run a fast number off the bat. We are putting the piece in place to do so though, pump and fuel system capable of running E85 and making more power than the motor will likely take.Originally posted by black99ss View PostI was thinking the same thing. lmao.
