  • Well, now that this thing is running...

I need some exhaust options. The muffler is rotted out but the rest is still good. Any good direct fit (weld in) replacements? Not looking to spend more than $150. I love the sound of the Hooker AeroChamber on my IROC, I can get one for about $90. The other option I was looking at was a Borla XR-1 3" round muffler and dump it before the axle, worried about the drone though.

I don't want it loud while cruising and I don't want it raspy. Low and mellow with a nice throaty WOT would be great!

    • Aerochamber sounds very good on an LS1 also. Its on the quiet side of the spectrum.

Good to know! I like quiet, and I know they aren't as restrictive as some of the other brands. I do like the fact that the exhaust would still exit at the rear.

        • I'd get the Aerochamber. They sound great for what you're looking for.

                  • Well, exhaust is on hold. Pretty sure I need to drop the trans to fix a cross leak in the stator

No reverse, first gear feels like it is binding but two, three and four were fine. Then I tried again a little later...first was no longer binding, still no reverse, but put it in third and it would bind. Two and four were fine. Tried it again...now back to the first scenario.

I hooked up EFIlive and manually activated the solenoids, I could hear each one click (car was off)

                    • I figured I'd update this thread.

I got the car dialed in 100%. A few days later I parked the car on the side of the street in order to get the 1960 Impala frame onto a flatbed so the body could be dropped back on. Went to bed early that night as I had to work at 4am, came back from work to see the side of the car smashed. Neighbor clipped it at 7am that morning.

Found a bright red 98 Z28 roller, hard top, in very good condition. Everything is swapped over as of tonight. Time to do a once over and get back on the road!
