  • I dunno if you have Aco Hardware on your side of the state, but I found them to have a tremendous amount of hard-to-find bolts when I needed them recently.

None around here. Just Ace, True Value, and the big box stores

All depends on what time. I'm tied up after 6 with school and in the AM I usually work. But keep me updated.

        • I'd leave here at 2pm, arrive at Flint Airport between 4 and 4:30.

Should I load up the cherry picker? I don't have the enclosed trailer yet so it might be kind of tight with an engine, picker, and rear end in the back...but I only have to get to Warren to drop off the rear

          • Up to you. Can probably slide it from one pick up bed to another but your call.

            • That should work, as long as you're not in the SS I'll be heading over in the '02 Z71.

                • I'll bring the picker. Plan on 4:30 at the airport, I'll let you know if it's a go - just waiting to hear back from one person, the rest are scheduled in.

                  • Got the 6.0 back, it's on the stand that I got from a friend. #1 and #5 have questionable cylinders, the rest are dirty. All are currently soaking in Marvel's Mystery Piss (aka oil)

Pictures! 'Cause I know you all like them

#4 has an odd look to it

                    • Plan for the 6.0 is to clean up the cylinders with a 320 grit flex hone, maybe run a ridge reamer prior to piston removal. Moly ring set, stock MLS gaskets, new OEM head bolts, used Z06 cam. I plan to eliminate the piston slap by getting the skirts coated (free/super cheap - it's good to know the VP ) and I'm really liking the idea of doing .030 cut on the 317 heads.

                      • Rumors of you getting rid if this...

I think you need to sell all of your 6.0 and 5.3 stuff. Find a complete ls1&trans and mod that. IMO. You'll get the motor in much quicker and easier. Then fix it up to the poin you can sell it and go with something different or make it into a nice car again.

                        • I have everything I need to put it back together. This car just doesn't excite me much and the exterior/interior need a ton of work.

I don't need four cars, but it's growing on me though. I guess I should say I don't need 3 project cars

I'm going to buy Andy's grey leather seats instead of getting these recovered. If I can't get the carpet clean then I'll replace it and be done with the interior. If I keep the car it will get a the cammed 6.0, Sunoco hood, narrow rear end, and maybe big brakes.

                          • Just purchased a 320 flex hone, torque angle meter, moly rings.

Can't decide on head gaskets. I can get the LS3 GM OEM for $76 or Fel-Pro 9199PT (don't think they are MLS) for $36, or spend a bit more on the Fel-Pro 1041 to bump the compression a little

Do you have all the other bolts/gaskets you need? I found the bundles from Texas Speed to be cheaper than buying individually.

                              • I have one set of head bolts but I need another to get both engines put back together. I'll look into their prices. Thanks!
