Fire resistant drywall is such a waste IMO. Why would you honestly need it? I guarentee our shop sees more activity than mists on here and we've never even came close to a fire.
Best advice I can give you is put as many air reels in as possible and put a torch reel in. We have a torch reel and have our tanks mounted on in a standup cabinet and it's so damn convienent.
That's what they made insurance for anyways. we'd be happy if our garage burned down we got a very good policy on it.

Yeah - since it's detached I can understand not wanting to do drywall.Originally posted by Lucky SOB View PostThis is code for an attached garage- Brian Meissen

We have osb and steel roof in our pole barn. VERY functional, you can hang some heavy things on it. I wouldnt paint it either because unpainted osb doesnt show anything. You can throw tools at it all day and it will still look the same

That may be, but painting it white lightens it up in the barn a lot. When walking between the old part of the barn and the new part(that is finished and has coated floors), there is a world of difference in brightness, even though the new part has less lighting. We are in the process of painting the main work area in our barn that is lined with Thermo-ply, and it is already a lot brighter in there.Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View PostI wouldnt paint it either because unpainted osb doesnt show anything. Technically code for mating walls/ceiling that is shared with the house. Due to its density, it helps support toy trains that ride around the interior in some spacesOriginally posted by Lucky SOB View PostThis is code for an attached garage
Schuby code in the garage....

Absolutely believe it but id rather upgrade lighting than be painting walls all the time. Or maybe just paint the upper half and two tone itOriginally posted by jetice View PostThat may be, but painting it white lightens it up in the barn a lot.
