I guess everyone is bound to have a mechanic's horror story or just lists of complaints. Its my time i suppose :/ this guy was recommended by my neighbor for being really good with f-bodies and his prices were fair. but to make a long story short. he cant get off his ass. And he really ****ed up if you ask me. Hes got a full time job somewhere (that i wasnt aware of until i asked him why my car hasnt been touched in a week and a half) and then he comes into the 2 bay shop and works from 7-9:30.. he's had the car since September 10th i believe. and just started his 3ish hour shift 17 days later.. i would love to take my car elsewhere but hes got my parts scattered around the shop so i guess im just going to have to deal with the shit and learn my lesson..

on a better note. ive been pretty busy trying to "freshen" up my engine bay i went with red for my valve covers and middle portion of my intake manifold.

P.S these portable 5GAL sand blasters are complete crap.

        Anyway here are some pictures

Also just got my heads back from the machine shop. got them milled down 20 thousands (so my compression should be 11:1ish if i did my guesstimation correctly) they also cleaned up my ports ( no porting or polishing just a clean)

And as it turns out i had some pretty damn good plugs in there

Yep, i replaced them with NGK TR6. People on LTxtech said they do better with raised compression. anyone have reviews on them?

Why didn't you tear down the intake to prevent overspray and paint lines?

Also, did you check ptv clearance?

the rubber flanges will cover the overspray so i wasnt worried about it.&
well, joel is running thinner gaskets than i am with a cam, and he has no issues ill double check on it today,

Most likely you won't have issues, but you typically don't lose 20 mills by using different gaskets. Never been inside a LT1 though, only worked on the outside stuff

Check your valvetrain geometry, might need shorter pushrods if the rocker tips aren't riding in the center.

if i recall correctly joel is running a thinner gasket and thinner heads. and i believe hes got less clearance between his gasket and mill work and a cam. without effecting geometry.

It's your engine, you can build it based of what you think others are running. I like to put them together using actual measurements If you're still stock cam, don't worry about PTV clearance with that wide lsa low lift cam.

FYI, milling heads will affect your geometry. Different thickness head gaskets will affect geometry. Decking the block will affect geometry. Smaller base circle cam will. And so on, yada yada, it's worth checking.

measured things out and have plenty of clearance put it all back together and shes running just fine. And its about damn time! The only issue im having is HORRIBLE gas, my guess is from the month and a half old gas, we'll see when i fill her back up with fresh
