  • well a bit of an unconventional method there rolo, not something I'd ever recommend but checking them should be easy enough with the car in the air. If you didn't cut enough or didn't use loctite they are likely backing out. As for the plug with oil on it its probably a valve seal leaking oil into the cylinder.

Does Yank make special bolts I should have used? I decided to cut because they were to long.

just go buy new grade 8 bolts that are the correct length from the hardware store. which is what you should have done to begin with.

          • Lock tight was used. But I figured you changed those by now but that was only a temp fix till you picked up new arps like we talked. I can almost game tee that's your problem. Easy fix though.

get the new arp bolts and I will come out and help you. its as easy as dropping the starter and replacing them one at a time. Your goi g to have to rotate the motor to get to all of them. Yank can set you in the right direction as far as size and thread. Or even the arp part number.

              • Rolo, - I'd pull the starter and check them 1st. If they aren't loose - listen to the car on jackstands and see if you can isolate the sound.

Might want to drain the oil and see how it looks - it'll tell you if the engine is hurt.

                      • I'll double check and post pics tonight. If you bought them through summit unless your spending another 88 bucks they charge 5-8 dollars for shipping. So 15 shipped ?

                            • Nope, still a budget..but fender cover needed since I gave my old man mine.

Ordered the bolts, should be here tomorrow. Sorry Ken forgot all about those when we talked about it last year , but yea I wouldn't mind you stopping on by to help out. Free beer

As far as draining the oil. The quart I drained out didnt look too bad. But an oil change will be in order soon if these bolts solved the problem

When cars sit for winter. How fast does the oil breakdown? I changed the oil probably in June, and its going on probably 1.5k
