Nothing to do with displacement. Just MY. Initially all 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0 motors were cable drive, but around 04 - 05 IIRC all gen 3 and gen 4 motors becable DBW.

ok then there is why.. my motor was an 05 which was DBW yours must have been cable driven then

You bet. That would be a good question for the DR. Because even though I had the correct throttle body type, he still had to redo my pcm to work with the car harness.

yeah between him and the guy who wired my car. he told me i needed the car pcm in order to make it work..

The chmsl needs a special type of paint. The plastic that those consist of is very sensitive.

If you are worried about the hood: that is solvent pop, it's from the factory when the fiberglass hood went through the same process as the injection molded plastic. I have seen it on a few other cars as well. If you are concerned with that little bit that really only can be seen indoors under certain light then it will need to be resprayed. That will not be taken out from a wet sand.

You seen our paint setup and having my dad as a great painter I would have fixed it if it bothered me if you do decide to resprayit just be sure to take your time and spend $$$ on materials. It very very easily could end up looking worse than what it was... That was my concern, that's why I never touched it.

Also agreed. I work in paint and noticed that it was solvent pop when I saw the car back when it was for sale. As Ryan said, the hood will need to be repainted, and especially being a black car you're going to want good materials and a good body man/painter so that it matches the appearance of the rest of the car. I can understand why you'd want to fix it since I'm pretty anal myself, but for how nice that car is I'd make sure you know what you're doing if you try to fix it yourself, or have it professionally sprayed by a good painter/shop. A black car will show every minor mistake you make, and as Ryan said it wouldn't be hard to make it look much worse than it is.

When my painter painted my CHMSL he had to use a special adhesion promoter I think... They sprayed it like 4 times using different methods before they were happy with it.
