  • [Project] T56 upgrades!

Since I broke the T56 last time out at the track - I took it down to RPM for a level 4 rebuild + bronze pads.

Decided while it was out that a Quicktime bellhousing would be worth while, hey I like my feet!

Also found the splines on the slip yoke were twisted - causing the suspension to bind and unload at the launch. I picked up a Strange chrome-moly piece to replace it.

Pulled the clutch tonight and mic'd the pads - came out .305, which turns out to be the stock thickness for the clutch. Not bad for 2500 miles and over 100 passes in the 1/4!

Nope - dropped it off Friday, they said they'd tear into as soon as they could.

OVRKILL - liberty was my 1st choice (after speaking with Larry) - but 4-6 weeks of downtime and they are to busy to return my calls.....RPM is only 1-2 weeks behind.

Yeah, if you cant deal with the down time I guess you didnt have a choice. The price was worth the wait though....

Didn't know rpm was close, good to know that there is another t56 option fairly local. Loved the work Liberty's did for me, D&D would have got my business but the guy I spoke with was an ass on the phone

Just talked to Jeremy @ RPM......guess I did more damage than I thought!

2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and Reverse gears were bad - gear teeth were fine but they were excessively wore where the fork/pads slide
2nd, 3rd, 4th keys and blocker rings were broke as well.

Totals up to $1500 with the level 4 rebuild + the $500 for the Quicktime bell, and the $100 in misc bolts and stuff I've bought.

when the keys go it usually takes the slider teeth and syncro teeth off of the gear. reverse( i think) can just be flipped over
