I decided to pick up an 87 Trans so I could at least get into driving an f-body this year. "The Project" (my 89 IROC) is still two or three years away from getting on the road.
This 87 TA is loaded - LG4, 700R4, WS6, power mirrors, power poor locks, power mirrors, tilt, cruise (work?), AC (work?). Blue with gray interior and 113KM's (or 70,818 miles) on it. Floor boards are clean but found two holes in the bottom frame rails under the door on each side. Nothing that a plasma cutter, scrap metal, spot weld, silicone and EZ spray bed liner wouldn't fix.
Also, spent 20 minutes pulling sand out of the frame rail holes...maybe it was raced on a beach.
Exhaust was shot so I picked up used Magnalow one off kijijji. Dash pad needs to be replaced (have new on in the basement), interior is in fair condition (but lots of elbow grease needed). Centre console had $2.06 Canadian and $.80 in US...coffee shop here I come
Rear spoiler is rotted. Plastic clips are gone and metal clips that go inside the spoiler are non existent. Also, no way to secure the spoiler with the bolts thru the trunk. Have to find another way to install the spoiler - maybe super glue, silicone or even virgin sacrifice.
More pics next week when we install the exhaust, swap out the rear brakes, swap in emerg brake cables, fix a vacuum leak, etc.....
Oh yea, car came with no rims
Had to put the IROC rims on the car. Somehow the car looks more.....masculine now.
Should be done in a few weeks. Just want to get the car on the road and drive....sand and all.....
Here she is no the trailer heading off the garage for some TLC
