After all the begging for pics, now that I finally posted some, everyone is speechless? I must have done good. . .

The car is in better shape than I originally thought, it won't take much to get it in shape for the Meet and Greet (how can I NOT go now?!).

More pics to come as we get more work done, I still need to knock the left side rocker down a bit, then we'll be working on the right side quarter panel while we're waiting for the new outer rocker to arrive. I pulled the P.O.'s stereo out and got my in-dash 7" touchscreen Pioneer DVD unit mocked up and working, now I just need to make some sturdier mounts and get started modifying the stock bezel to fit. If I raise the headunit up a little more, I'll just have to cut a notch out of the bottom of the bezel and fill in the gaps on the sides to make it look good. Shouldn't take much work. After this is done, we'll be getting ready to start wiring up the amp and subs from the 'bird in the Camaro, and come spring, I should be able to get the headers and other goodies put in.

I'm thinking x-piped true duals dumped before the axle as far as exhaust goes, then a few personal touches here and there to get it looking a little less "stock".

We were out driving today, and I noticed the car hesitates a lot after 1/2 throttle when it's warmed up, I'm thinking the exhaust leak has caused an O2 sensor to go bad. It'll be getting new plugs, wires, and an oil change soon as well, that should help clear up the misfire/hesitation.

I still can't believe what I was missing all these years. . .

well i dont know what you paid, but certainly doesnt look like the damage is the end of the world. if you decide to go duals i am also interested in that stock exhaust pending condition

The "stock exhaust" has a flowmaster 80 in place of the stock muffler, according to the previous owner. I'll let you know when I get a closer look under the car, if it's in decent shape, we can work out a deal.

It's got some flaws, but nothing that some elbow grease and a coat of paint can't fix.

I noticed while driving it today that it pulls like a banshee until it warms up, and (I THINK) when it goes into Closed Loop mode, a Check Engine light pops on, and it starts hesitating really badly after half throttle. I'm still trying to figure that one out, I think it's an 02 sensor that's bad, and I believe I found an exhaust leak at the left side manifold. I haven't had a chance to hook up the DTC scanner to it yet, but when I do, I'll post my findings.

Drove the car a bit today, and besides the hesitation issue, it's running great. I have no complaints at all, I bought it as a minor project, and was pleasantly surprised with how minor the damage was. The previous owner made it sound worse than it really was, which I'm thankful for, since I'm not feeling disappointed at all now that I've had a chance to tear into it a bit.

That's what I was leaning towards. No biggie, the car will be getting long tubes and new exhaust over the next few months. It still gets better gas mileage than my Jeep, so I'm going to continue driving it, but if it starts acting up any worse, I may push the header swap from the Firebird forward a bit. No sense in doing the same job twice when you could do it once and save yourself the headache.

Looked up the RPO codes, nothing really out of the ordinary. It's not a 3.42 rear, it has 3.23's. I think a set of 4.10's would really wake this thing up. . . I might go with 3.73's though, to preserve highway economy.

It was swapped then? ALL 6-speed cars from 94-02 came with 3.42s.

They didn't make 3.23 t56 cars. Only 3.42s. Personally I would do 4.10s, but its your car. Just do yourself a favor and get SLP gears from AAM. They are the only gears that aren't notorious for whining.
