I need to grab a pic from the side to show the damage to the rocker. It's pretty bad, but I think I can save it. The body shop I went to for an estimate said they would probably just pull the inner back where it should be, and replace the outer.

And to think, I thought this was going to be a parts car for the 'bird. . .

Couldn't you at least drop a few bucks at a car wash and make the thing reasonably clean to be able to inspect it? lol Also, if you aren't going to tell us what you paid, quit saying, "I can't believe I got it for such a low price" well we don't know whether to agree with you or disagree because we don't know what you paid! lol.

Oh and P.S. judging by the change in the back, it looks like you made some cash on the deal!

First: I didn't want to drop the coinage at a car wash for one major reason: Ice. It's well below freezing currently, and the only place I have to work on it is in a friends' garage. He has a kerosene Salamander heater out there, and I'm paying an arm and a leg for kerosene just to keep the temperature comfortable enough to work out there, it would take forever for that tiny heater to warm the place up enough to melt the ice so we could even work on the car. It will be cleaned up nicely once the weather improves and temperatures start rising, but I'm driving the car right now. It gets better gas mileage than my Wrangler, so I'm saving money by driving it.

Second: I can say what I want about what I paid for it. I'm not putting that info out to the general membership on MIFBody, but if you are interested in finding out, PM me. I've already told one person on here, I might be inclined to tell a few others, especially if they ask nicely.

Third: Yes, there was change EVERYWHERE. He was still driving the car, the only reason he sold it was for the down payment on a used Cobalt SS Supercharged he picked up the day after I bought it from him. He grabbed what he needed, handed me the title and keys, and went on his way. The back floorboards are covered in change, the center console, cupholder, ashtray, glove box, there's probably $1.50 in pennies alone in the car. I'm going to clean it out soon and add the change to my change jar at the house.

I think you should read brians thread, his outer rocker was heavily damaged and he repaired it!

I did read Brian's thread. My rocker is damaged even worse. The rocker is folded up almost even with the floor pan on the driver's side. It's toast, no way to save it. The passenger side rocker is fine, and I think I can save the INNER rocker on the driver's side, but the outer is not salvageable. I'll try to get some pictures in a couple of days, I'm going to stop driving the Camaro for a while until the roads clear up some more.

There's still a TON of work to do before it's ready for a new rocker anyway, I need to tweak the a-pillar back into place so the door will close so the window goes into the groove where it's supposed to be, right now, the window rests on the outside edge of the t-top weatherstripping, I need to drop the rocker down to eliminate the rubbing that's lifting the door when it closes, then start pulling on the a-pillar. The door gaps are all screwed up as well, I need to work my magic on those before I start cutting the rocker out as well.

I know you all want better pictures, and if you are patient, you will be rewarded. lol

No lo-jack, I just don't feel that everyone needs to know what I paid for the car. It's my choice to share what I paid for the car, and with whom I share it with. I will stop commenting on it if it bothers everyone that much, but as I mentioned, if anyone in particular wants to know, all they have to do is PM me and ask, if I want to share with them, I will. If I don't, I won't. Simple as that.

We're going to be starting on the quarter panel this week, I think Monday is going to be a good day for it, but I'll have to stop driving it long enough to pull the rear wheels and bumper to get to the affected area. Lots of grinding, welding, pulling, hammering, and prying left to do to finish the quarter panel, then I'll be moving on to the driver's side A-Pillar. I'm still trying to figure out a plan of attack for that, I'm probably going to have to pull the seats, center console, and kick panels to get a clear shot at it, since I don't have access to a frame machine.

Found out this car has the typical F-Body gas gauge. . . It'll stay pegged just past "F" for a while, but as soon as it crosses the 3/4 line, it drops like a rock. I filled it up yesterday, cost me $40 to do it, and I reset the trip odometer and BABIED the car. I mean I started in first, took it up to just before CAGS kicked the light on (1800RPM), and stayed under 2k RPM's in every gear. Sure, that puts me driving in 5th gear at 40mph, but honestly, for the last 40 miles on the car, the gas gauge hasn't been moving as fast as with previous tanks of fuel. When it hits 1/2 tank, I'll fill it up again and figure out what kind of mileage I've been getting. It's mostly city driving I do, so I probably won't break 22mpg, but I can dream. . .

Combination of the gauge and the gas tank - our tanks are V shaped but the gauge doesn't compensate for the fact that halfway down the "V" is smaller than the top half of the "V"

i usually get about 18/19 city, but thats with a cam. My car got its best mileage when it was bolt ons only (33 mpg higwhay) and its worst mileage when it was stock. (12 mpg city driving like an ass).

I know. Whatever it's getting, I just hope its better than the 14mpg (guess, of course) that my Wrangler gets. . . The Z is SO much more fun to drive for work.

I've been avoiding driving like an ass, I try to keep it below 2k RPMs. I'm pretty impressed, I've gone nearly 60 miles, and my gas gauge is just below "F". Of course, in these cars, the gas gauge hardly moves when it's above F, after it hits that F line, it starts dropping like a rock.

I feel bad for driving it, the roads still haven't been washed clear of winter salt by that first couple of rains of spring, but it'll only be a few more weeks before everybody else starts breaking out their f-bodies for the season.

I put the 'vette rims on the Camaro this evening, it took forever to get the old ones off, someone cross-threaded the locking lug nut on the back left wheel and tightened it down, it was just sitting there spinning on the stud for a good 20 minutes. I had to drill out the stud just to get the nut off, then I had to rip the lug nut off with a pair of vise grips. . . I was about to start throwing things, my blood was boiling. Had to replace 3 studs on the back left corner, luckily I was able to get the other 3 wheels off without incident.

The car looks REALLY tall, but I think it's because I'm used to driving a lowered Formula, I'm going to keep the Z28 stock, since I want to try out a body kit this time around. I already have the RS side skirts and spoiler lip, I'm going to pick up the front and rear valance this summer. I'm still debating the spoiler, I may go for the LS1 SS spoiler, but I still need to see more pictures before I decide. . .
