  • [Project] Project <I need a project like everyone else!>

Well, since everyone else is doing it, I thought I'd join in too! After about a year of just enjoying the car and finishing up school (while skipping most all car shows of 2010), the time has come where I have a full time job and the means to make some customizations. Most of you have seen my car in the past, and I really haven't changed much on it. For now, most mods I'm going to do will be cosmetic, and I'm open to suggestions!

    As it sits:
    Exterior Modifications:
    -Blackbird stripes
-Black "pontiac" rear fillins and black emblem overlays
-Stainless Fuse Box, PCM, Battery, Oil Filler Cap, Brake Fluid Cap, Power Steering Cap, Radiator Cap, and Head Plate.
    -Corvette Fuel Rail Covers

    Interior Modifications:
    -Custom "Trans Am" Embroidered Headrests.
    -Shifter w/ Chrome Button
    -Chrome Vent Rings by Boyd.

    Performance Modifications:
    -BG Ram Air Kit
    -HP Tuners
    -SLP lid
    -Ported and Modified Throttle Body
    -Hypertech 160 Thermostat
    -Stainless Longtubes and ORY
    -Drilled and slotted rotors
    -Stainless Magnaflow Exhaust
    -QTP 3" Electric Cutout
    -K&N
    -!Air
    -!EGR

    Suspension/Chassis:
    -Hotchkis Panhard Bar
    -Poly Engine Mounts
    -BMR Tunnel Brace/Driveshaft Safety Loop
    -UMI LCA Relocation Brackets
-Founders Adjustable Tubular Lower Control Arms
    -SLP Strut Tower Brace

    What the future holds:
    -Sequential Taillights
-Fix the infamous sail panel bubbles, the rest of the car is mint, but the bubbles are coming up and they need to go!
-Paint any factory black pieces in the undercarriage with black undercoat (The car is from Georgia so there is no rust, but it would be nice to freshen it all up).
-Clean and wax the entire undercarriage again-the e-cutout has made some of it dirty!
-Polish the entire stainless exhaust system.
    -Grind down and polish calipers
-Buy stainless FRC strips to cover the corvette letters (then add "trans am letters on top of the strips)
-Gut the entire interior and sound deaden it all.
-Some sort of polished wheel setup with some sticky tires, 17s or 18s.
-Add some sort of sub/amp setup with custom box and Amp Rack.
    -Triple gauge pod
    -Gears and Stall?
    Any other suggestions?

    In Process/Recently Complete
    -Polish MAF Housing
    -Buy MTI Clear Lid
-Add aux input jack to factory headunit

Below are some pics of the car as it sits, I am open to any input/suggestions!

    Sounds great Derek!

Only things I would add are...

window tint (if you don't have it)
    shave the side moldings
    smooth bellows for intake
    better exhaust dual/dual tips
    lowering springs
    2000 Trans Am l 1967 Firebird

It has tint, I have smooth bellow..though it is worthless, and exhaust will be staying it is mint yet. I also like the current stance over scraping the road. My engine bay picture is a little older and doesnt show slp lid or bellow. I will consider the moldings, I have done it in the past but I am unsure if these were painted over by the previous owner. Thanks forr the suggestions! I really want to brainstorm some one of a kind mods we shall see.

All I would do is lt headers, and a t56 swap. I like your car just the way it is.

question for you: was your car repainted or was it glossy under the hood stock?

It was repainted, IIRC... Front end repair..

Agree with the smooth bellow, just looks better. lol

I agree that the exhaust shouldn't change - was just suggesting new tips. I like the Corsa clones... fwiw

If you're iffy about removing the moldings, then don't. My passenger front fender had been resprayed we found out when painting the front end of the car (drip under the molding). Lucky for me we were painting the front end of the car! lol

P.S. We need to do a photoshoot of our cars this summer! Also... I may steal your headrests! Those are just too cool...

I got the aux input installed on my factory head unit, my clear lid will be here tomorrow, MAF is polished to a nice mirror finish, and now, I unexpectedly will be purchasing a corsa catback (as shown in the other thread)! Once the weather warms up I'll pull the car out of the barn and get it up on a lift in the shop to redo the exhaust and detail the undercarriage. The car is finally getting some love
