  • hey..this is how internet rumors start. would there be disappointment if was a 4x2 standard cab....with a 4.3

i've been shopping for a truck for awhile, just not sure what to pull the trigger on. little indecisive. it will be my DD so has to be "practical". BUT still should be able to pull the car once in awhile. shopping gm mainly.....gave up on dodge and toyota. but did run across an INSANELY large F350 that was pretty tasty

thinking this should be a seperate thread

    • I believe the 2012 HD's you can get a body color front bumper and a different grill.
What kind of trailer will you be pulling? open? closed? Length?
If it really going to be your DD I wouldn't recommend getting a HD. My brother has an 2011 D-max and it been a GREAT truck and it pulls my dad's 40 foot 5th wheel very well.
But if it were me and would only be towing three or four times a year, I would get a 1/2 ton. Better ride, better turning radius, cheaper.

Kinda of the way I'm leaning too Brian. Trailer will be closed...1/2 ton with a 5.3 opted right, has a 9600lb towing capacity. Used to have an HD....rode like "a truck" but pulled like train.

I pull a 24 ft steel enclosed trailer with a vehicle in it multiple times a year with 2003 1/2 ton Surburban. You get pushed around by Semi's but the key is loading the trailer properly and being patient.

But if you can save up towards $70k, you can own something that rides nice, looks better than the POS you will be towing and is a convertible...TrailerQueen.jpg

          • when i got mine all my buddys told me to get a diesel. sure there great for towing but i dont think i could drive one everyday due the added cost.
i used to use one of our plow trucks(2001 or 2003 2500 regcab long box duramax) it towed great but i couldnt stand the ride for a DD) my extcab 5.3 1500 even rides better when towing

            • I'm currently saving up for another cherry example of this truck. I had it all with that thing, and although I don't regret selling it I wish i could have it back. Had no problems towing my Z28 to Grand Rapids on Sean's flat bed at 80mph. Very capable and reliable truck. My dads 'showroom' clean, low-mile 2002 seems like a big piece of junk in comparison. I could get that one at a great price but not sure that i want it.

Whatever truck I buy though, I will not be daily driving. I have a fusion for the purpose of being driven into the ground

Beautiful truck...had a couple of those too. The trailer (much like its owner) is a little smaller than I'm gonna need

These trucks can definitely haul some weight! I think I had about 22,000lbs behind my truck there.
