If you haven't yet it will only take one drive. Even then a slick or radial tire isn't going to dead hook without some heat in it or getting the suspension right. Then you get to a point where how far do you go, then its a track only racecar lol it never ends. None of this matters though, just get it done and driving for now
Doing less with more

yes you are... and umm did u actually think it would even remotely hook on street tires..?Originally posted by OVRKILL View Postthat's ok...i just wont race anyone

Why are you concerned with driving a car on the street that will never have a engine?

My opinions on the subject.
Stay with a street tire, get a second set of wheels/tires for track days with a real tire on it. At that power no drag radial is going to hook on the street unless its a really good/sticky one, has heat in it, and low pressure. At that point, avoid rain.
I ran 345/30/19 NT05R's out back, making 495 rwhp (spray so it's a bit more violent but still less hp than you) and with those tires at 20 psi, not much heat though, 50mph roll just goes instantly to the limiter. So traction really isn't there at all even with the big 345 DRs and they were VERY sketchy on i94 in the rain. Just my 2 cents. Stick with a street tire, don't expect any traction, and get some real wheels/tires for when you want to hook up at the track
If the car is only going out on nice days, then sure, go ahead and run a nice sticky DR as it will help. But if you're going to drive the car a lot, to work, may get caught in the rain and stuff, just get a normal tiresigpic

If there's no risk of seeing rain, get the biggest DR you can under the rear of that thing.
I've been in two cars at the 600+ rwhp range that flat out got up and boogied on the street from a 5-10mph roll, one with 295/45/17 Mickey DRs and one with 325/50/15 Mickey DRs, both without really any heat and both on not-so-great roads. They were both turbo cars so maybe they don't hit as hard, but one of them was a T56 too...
I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it myself, but it's possible with the suspension set up right.Last edited by birdie2000; October 26th, 2011, 06:20 PM.
