I've never heard of Scorpion brand before so I can't give you a 100% opinion on the rockers themselves, but that said I personally would stick with non-self aligning rockers. I'd rather have the guideplates and know that there's a little bit more keeping the pushrods aligned than hoping the tiny little grooves on the rockers will do the trick.- Brian Meissen

I've heard of Scorpion before from when I was an intern at Mercury Marine. I think they use them on their sterndrive motors (which are SBC-based).
The problem I'm having is whenever I look for stuff online, there are just as many people that say, "No, those suck, go with these instead" as there are people that say, "I've been running those for years, I've never had any problems." And that goes for pretty much everything, not just the rockers.

There are some products that have opinions going both ways, which are usually the "budget" or "entry-level" products. There are other brands/product lines where people unanimously say that they're good. Personally, I'd stick with the latter. In the case of rockers, I doubt you'll see anyone say anything bad about Comp Pro Mags.

I forgot, they re-designed them and call them the "Ultra" Pro-Mags now. Not sure if they're any better or worse than the old Pro-Mags. What size stud are you going to use? Are you insisting on self-aligning? Most people get away from that.

but man, those are expensive...
I'm not insisting on self-aligning, I'm just not familiar with the pros and cons. What exactly are the guide plates, and where do they go? What is their function? I'm generally of the belief that if there's something to mess up, I'll find it. Just thinking that if they're self-aligning, that's one less thing for me to do wrong.

The scorpions are known to be a cheap low quality rocker that have had more than a few well documented failures on site like ls1tech and such. LS1 guys just use stock rockers. I'm not sure whats popular with LT1 guys.

At what kind of power levels? That I don't know about. I do know that I used a standard SBC Comp Hi-Tech rocker (the model above the Pro-Mag) under stock LT1 valve covers and it cleared just fine. Having to clearance the webbing under the cover is pretty standard from what I remember, but I'm not positive if mine needed it as someone else assembled the motor for me.
