Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
I really hope it isnt my opti. Just seems like something came unpluged since it went from running 100% perfect at idle waiting in line, to just dead. No goofy noises or anything.
Put motor mounts on the focus, doing ball joints next weekend. Then I should be able to work on the Camaro. Also need to finish up our bathroom, Courtneys losing patience while I fix computers lol.
Worst update ever? Took the 643 heads I got from Joel in to get disassembled and cleaned up.
Going to push the car into my dads barn and see whats going on. I do have my old opti that I could use for testing. Can the car be fired without a water pump just for a quick second?
Went out today and looked for any kind of vacuum line that had fallen off, nothing out of the ordinary.
We also used a test light plugged into the coil, when cranking we got no light. This confirms that the problem is ICM/Coil related...right?
Correct me if I'm wrong...
A bad opti should still allow the car to get spark. The low resolution sensor tells the injectors when to fire and the high resolution is just timing control. Right? It's still a cap/rotor setup when you break down all the functions of the opti...
I guess Im not really understanding what your saying.
I am testing the parts that are before the opti, and easiest to change. If I am not getting spark form the coil, theres no way the opti would get spark..right?
What Michael is saying there is part of the opti that establishes timing like the position sensor on later models. this tells pcm when to fire injectors and when to fire coil. The cap and rotor simply deliver the spark to the appropriate spark plug. So if that part is bad then you will not fire the coil. There is a trouble shooting proceedure on www.shbox.com to check the opti and coil try that see if it helps you.

1998 Trans Am Convertible A4 - WS6 hood, WS6 air lid, WS6 rims, drilled/slotted rotors.
Got my heads back from engine shop. Everything checked out good and they are nice and clean now. I think I am going to have them install everything in the heads when the time comes.
Valves look good, plan on reusing them.
Anyone want some stock springs?
Also placed my order for the GM LT1/LT4 Hotcam kit.
Tomorrow morning we are pushing my car in the garage and testing/tearing apart.
