IROC nose job

Very nicely done. . . I remember the first time I tried my hand at painting a car, Ben let me repaint his Firebird. . . I think I did pretty well, I don't think there were any runs, but I ran into the same problem you did, after spraying the paint and having to lay it on thin to prevent it from running, the gun didn't put out as much clear as it did paint, so I wound up having to shoot a few coats of clear, when I probably could have done it in one coat, had I known it was going to be so much more forgiving than the paint was. . .

I'm going to be repainting my car this summer (hopefully), so maybe we can compare notes at the Meet and Greet. . .

Did some more work. I had friday off so I figured I'd do the black-out treatment on the headlight pockets...also painted the "CAMARO" nose insert to freshen it up a bit. So, I headed up to the Finishmaster and bought some more paint

Close-up of the insert....I used a black sealer for this and it ended up being a satin finish..might clear it later.

I like the black buckets because it gives the car a more aggressive appearance.....and also because it came from the factory that way

It might just be me, but the front bumper color doesn't look like it matches up quite right with the hood and fenders. . . Is it just the pictures, or does it look like that in person, too?

You are correct...it's not a perfect match...thanks for pointing that out...lol.

At this point you are kinda at the mercy of the paint mixing machine. It was mixed to the factory color code and done by computer. There are still too many varibles to get an exact match. The guy at the paint store told me the smaller you break down the quantity of paint the harder the match will be due to the very small amount of other colors that get mixed into the batch. ie...a gallon mixed will be more accurate of a match vs. a pint...which makes sense when you think about it.

The only thing I could do to hide it would be to blend the color onto the fenders and at this point that's not something I feel comfortable doing due to my limited skills as a painter
