It's always interesting what you can learn about your car once you start sanding.

Just be careful if you choose to use 80 grit on a DA. It bites down to the the urethane quickly. The urethane has a tendency to "fuzz" up when you sand it with really aggressive grit. Mine fuzzed a little that's why I ended sanding all the way up to 500 wet. Also since I'm skipping the primer step I wanted to make sure it was smooth.Originally posted by Darrenscamaro View PostNice work James thanks for the more details of the work you did, I will be trying that same process on mine! i would highly reccomend laying down a coat of two of primer before the paint... the paint sticks much better to the primer then the urethane itself..Originally posted by WMCCjames View PostJust be careful if you choose to use 80 grit on a DA. I'm using Bulldog adhesion promoter first..then bc/cc. The paint guy said this would work well.Originally posted by kammi10 View Posti would highly reccomend laying down a coat of two of primer before the paint... the paint sticks much better to the primer then the urethane itself..

Oh boy better get the heater burning….Alright, well I’ll be over in a few weeks with mine, by then you should be a pro with white. Looks good!
Hopefully ya got a good paint mask, napa sell cheap 3m ones with the proper filters for like 30 bucks.

Looking good. For a mask, i'd say that you really want to use a good one when you spray the clear coat, it's much stronger of a smell then the paint itself. If you can't get some type of mask, just make sure you have a real good ventilation system, it will get cloudy quick from the clear. I always paint my cars outside unless its a humid day, where there are no trees and nothing really to get into the paint. I also have a full dirt backyard but it doesnt seem to make a dfference for me96 BBB Impala SS-Fixed, Broke, Fixed again

Lookin good. My only personal opinions are why did you go all the way to 500 wet? I like to stop at like 200. It gives something for the paint/primer to grab to. Also I would use a sealer before putting on the base. It will help with the bumper being all the same shade of white, even in different lights, cause I see there is still some red on it.
Cant wait to see it done!

Well, things did not go as planned this weekend. I had full intentions of getting this thing painted but the car gods were against me. I had issue after issue when getting set up to paint on saturday...long story. By sunday afternoon though I was able to start. I layed down 2 coats of the Bulldog only to find I had more work ahead of me before I could proceed. First off, I had the bulldog run in 2 areas because I'm just not used to how much paint this gun puts out. Also after getting the bulldog on, I could see in several areas my sanding scratches were not filling. Bulldog says the the material will fill up to a 320 grit scratch...so I must have some deeper than that left over. I looked over the parts real close before painting and thought I had them all taken care of, but once the bulldog saturated the urethane it REALLY highlighted the areas I missed.
So..now I'm debating on if I should just lay down a 2K primer to help fill the scratches or sand the bulldog back down.sigpicTurbo Charged LS1/T56
