      • Wish I clicked on this thread earlier.

I have a slightly bigger cam on my 355 with 11:1
LT1 intake will move the powerband up but the 383 will mellow the cam out.

Edit: I think my IROC is slightly less duration but more lift. With a good tune you will be fine! Planning to run cats?

          • Yeah thats a good point, the 383 wont make that cam so brutal to live with and the extra torque of the stroker wont make it seem so useless at low rpm. Should be a good combo!

Sweet! That's what the machine shop said! I hope it's a good street/strip set up and it doesn't do to bad on the freeway, I plan on putting a lot of miles on it this summer if all works out okay. Cause I've owned the damn car for 4 years and only put 9k miles on it. And we bulled around with the idea of solid roller why I talked to him yesterday and he talked me out of it cause if I wanna drive it a lot he said I will not enjoy re-setting lash every couple weeks/months. And I agree so it looks like plans now are fully forged 383 with splaye 4 bolt caps, 11.5:1 compression with fully ported stock castings and the voodoo cam.

              • The cost of splaying the main caps and getting billet caps is not needed for your goals. A 2 bolt main will easily hold.
Also basically you just relash every oil change. So when you change the oil, pull the covers and do the lashing.

This!! Stud the 2-bolt! Splayed caps are not necessary and some people even swear they make blocks weaker since that area of the block is not meant to be load bearing. Also watch for the cheap chinese caps.

Also make sure oiling is upgraded at least with the GM white spring

I honesty don't know what he ended up getting for caps but mine are junk. And he said he is ordering a high pressure pump not a high volume. I'm really just going off what he has been telling me. I wish i would have had everything set up to just take to him. I just want it to be strong and stay together for a long time!

He is correct in using a high pressure pump over high volume. Whatever it ends up being i wouldnt sweat it too much, sounds like he knows his stuff.
