    What's a carb anyways?

I'd be inclined for a vacuum secondary 750cfm for a street cruiser.

I posted this on your other BigJon project Thread this morning, but you must not have seen it. Well here it is again. Here is a carb sizing web site you can go to to figure out what size carb you need.

Ive ran mechanical secondaries on the street for years. Heck, fwiw, my wife use to run my valiant on the street when it ran 11s with a chokeless 830 mech. Now I run an 1150 dominator on the street and it idles at lights beter than most peoples 650s. A smaller carb is going to give you quicker low speed response, where as a bigger carb...........properly tuned, will give you ok low speed response, and more high end hp. That motor will run fine on a 650,750,or an 850. Look up the price of a custom built carb.....................than buy seans, lol. And afaik, the only carb made is a holley. Ever hear of a 1000+ cfm elelbrock...........................no, you havent, cause men use holleys, lol. Good luck bro. Eric L

Absolutely nothing wrong with Quadrajets...they are the most precise of any mass produced carb out there.

And probably the most misunderstood of any carb out there.

                A good introductory article...

Vacuum signal Vs. load......Think of a fuel map for an injection set-up. It just makes for a more "smart" carb for a street cruizer. MPG will slightly suffer on a mechanical set-up on the street. Mechanical is the way to go though for all out performance....unless of coarse you get the real deal by going to fuel injection

                      Demon 750 HANDS DOWN.

But If you wanna run it as a street car, and wanna get more then 6mpg and dont wanna have to clear your car out every 10 min cause its loading up to much with gas. Get a 650. A 850 IS WAY to big for a small block, even if its a stroker. And so is a 800, you dont want to have to big of a carb or your just going to be DUMPING fuel in and you going to ruin your motor. (ware out the rings, delute you oil, etc)

I already bought a Demon 750 mechanical secondarys for my 383.

If it were a 1/4 mile car mechanical makes more sense, but for street purposes and cruising, maybe not so much. I have a 750 w/mechanical secondaries on a BBC years ago and it was too much fuel when I would hit the throttle. Just my $.02 Good luck man!

some one pmed this to me and wanted me to post it in my thread to add to this little war games going on ...
Yes true, Vacuum secondaries are better for street driving. BUT you going to use a pretty decent size cam, and power brakes. The power brake booster uses alot of vacuum, so the vacuum secondaries carbs dont always work that great, along with that big cam not producing alot of vacuum.

                            250/256 Duration @ .050 .549/.553 Lift w/ 1.6 rockers, 110 LSA

If this is primarily a street driven car why do you have such a huge cam with those small 180 cc heads ?
That cam isn't likely to make much power below 4000 rpm.

I'll refer to my previous statements on alot of other threads

Yeah thoes heads are kinda small. Especially for a 383 (imo) But the cam doesnt sound that big too me?
Since its a hydraulic roller right? shoot, Id have a 295 avd duration and like a .580 lift.
