      • Dave if your gonna remove the airbags and you have steering wheel volume controls can I get your clockspring? Its located under the wheel itself in the column. Mine is broken from last winter and they seem to be improssible to find for me.

        • Its not the ABS unit thats different between v6 and v8 cars its the proportioning valve. Drum brakes use a different proportioning valve than discs.

          • alright consider it sent... its not a big deal i got some running around to do anyways...ups store is right in the middle of everything so its all good.

im dropping off my bell housing and my edelbrock intake manifold for powder coat...colors are going to be the same, im just not happy with that ceramic spray paint crap. the maf sensor housing is also going for some red powder.
after i drop off the stuff for powdercoat im taking my timing chain cover up to my aluminum guy to have the water pump drive hole plugged/welded.. my fuel rails are also getting the lines in the back cut, holes punched and 8an fittings welded into the ends..then will be off for powder. throttle body (pulled the bbk powerplus plate and put the lt1 plate on ) and iac housings are going to have the coolant line fittings/connectors pulled and the holes sealed... after pix will be posted when they come back

              Experience.
I tried it and for some reason you need something in there to decrease the flow to the rear breaks.
I deleted my ABS modual, made a flow block and I had no breaks so I added in the valve and presto, they worked.
I got mine from the local parts dealer and it was 50.00.

Where is the proportioning valve located then? I figured it was just part of the ABS unit itself?

And yeah, Kyle, I can agree with that - you need an inline proportioning valve if you get rid of ABS. I plan to keep ABS.

I don't even really think I need the proportioning valve because my breaks work great as it is but

Hmmm it might be part of the ABS unit. I'm not sure about the fbody specific location of the valve but I know that a proportioning valve for a vehicle with rear drums it different than one with rear discs.

                  • I guess - like I said I haven't noticed a difference in braking. I figure it's either in the ABS or in the master cylinder. I believe someone checked before and the master cylinder is the same part number for v6 and v8.

                    • yes the valve is PART of the ABS block. There is a big debate on whether you need to run a proportioning valve when deleting the ABS.

The main concern is to get the front and rear brakes to lock up at the same time. I talked to a lot of people with a valve and they run them fully open. I dont even have one on mine and braking is great. My front and rear wheels lock up at the same time (tested it out lol)

                      • alrighty...had to spend a couple days to organize the garage a little bit...was starting to get out of hand got about another day or two of prep and rust removal then i can hit the inside of the car with primer and paint the roll bars. I picked up a nice epoxy primer for the inside since it will be getting covered up with carpet and all that and i got some viper red paint and hardner for the roll bars...hopefully i can start hitting the car this weekend also picked up a cheepo gun for undercoat along with about a gallon of undercoat so ill be able to start that shortly.
oh and i forgot to mention all my parts that were getting powdercoated black just came in! check em out! they did an excelent job...tonight or tomorrow i should be getting my intake manifold and maf sensor housing back...cant wait to see what they will look like with that red!

                          • just got my intake manifold and maf sensor housing back from powder..they look great! the pix really dont do them justice..verry happy with it..im already dying to see this car put together.

I was brainstorming this morning on where i want to run my gauges...i have a dual pod for my a pillar which i attatched today and am currently dying. the other 4 gauges a wanted to stuff in the left and middle three vents... its just about a 2 5/8 hole and i had 2 1/16 gauges so i sent 4 of them back to summit to be replaced with their bigger brothers for the vent holes... my oil temp and oil press will go in the a pillar because they pretty much go together... new gauges in next monday?
im off to see avatar then hopefully its go time for some sanding and painting on that car tonight/tomorrow morning

                              • I think it would look better if you didnt powdercoat over the "fins" on the top of the intake and leave them polished, same goes for the edelbrock logo
