alright so im calling it a night... i got it so the tail lights and front markers come on when the running lights are on, then i installed my rocker switch for the turn signals (just a little bit of trimming and it went right into the hole for the dimmer) and i wired up the brake switch and the turn signal switch and ran them to the engine bay. im just about there with the figuring out how to make the turn signals and brake lights to work together...hopefully tomorrow...sorry guys, i really wanted to get those turn signals working but i think i just need to sleep on it... better luck tomorrow i guess... fyi...wiring turn signals and brake lights from scratch so they all work correctly blows

good job! how come you didn't use the factory harness to the turn signals and the brake lights?

I didn't use the stock setup for the turn signals for the combination of two things...it would have been way too hard to track down every single turn signal and brake light wire in the circuit....but mainly because I want to be able to say I did all the wiring... I want to do everything on the car I can possibly do....itd make the project mean so much more once I'm done

And I'm with everyone else here when doing main caps and bolts or studs of any sort.
Always have it re honed so thet everything is true or you will wipe out your bearings and ruin you crank.

alright so i figured out how to wire the turn signals, brake lights and running lights so they all work the way theryre supposed to....it only took me like 4 days to figure it out, ripped the hair out of my head, frustrated me to the point of me wanting to lick an electric fence, and the entire ordeal caused me to grow out a beard....ever seen castaway?? yep..that bad... but the thing that matters is that the wiring is complete..

aside from all the relays and switches working correctly i do have some issues still but im pretty sure its in the harness for the left side tail lights (i kept the wiring that goes to the sockets...just cut it as soon as it comes into the trunk area). anyways...why i beleive this is my right side lights work completely perfect..blinkers, running and brake lights, all the way they should...but...my left side blinker/brake lights work, but not when the light switch is in run, but the left side marker lights work so i know its not a problem with my wiring of the running light circuit... and lastly and i think most importantly is that back when the car was still stock i was having some problems with that sides lighting not quite working right...

anyways...its kinda hard to explain but im pretty sure its in the factory harness so im going to rip it all apart and go to town with it and see if i cant make something happen...

alright i got the turn signals 99% up and running....only issue is that the blinkers blink real slow but i think i can fix that with moving the flasher to a different spot in the circuit and running two of them...but that will have to be done tomorrow...im exhausted after messing with those stupid things for this long...

good job! wiring can be a pain. I remember I had big problems with my caddy STS, and it ended up the socket would short but everything looked and metered ok.

i fixed the slow blinking....i bought a cool-guy heavy duty flasher and replaced the old one and it worked just fine... i also had a problem with a turn signal socket on the left side so i hunted done another one of those and replaced it. while i was at it this morning i wired up the running/turn signal wires for the front. upon a thorough inspection of the exterior lighting i had to take yet another trip to autozone for some light bulbs, but once i was done replacing some burnt bulbs i did yet another inspection of the lighting and it all functions perfect...100%
i had to push the car out of the garage and clean up a bit...i made quite a mess while i was doing all the wiring .
now that im finally done with the exterior lighting, and it all works perfectly, i think i owe it to myself to take the rest of the day off and relax tomorrow i wont be able to get much done...gotta work on someones car for a bit but maybe over the weekend ill finish up the seat belts/harnesses, maybe even start wiring up the ignition system..
