Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
I started working on the car when I got home from work taking the driver's exhaust manifold off. I peeled the manifold gasket off, coppersprayed it again, and went to stick it back onto the engine when I remembered the header gaskets are different than manifold gaskets. DAMN YOU GM/AFTERMARKET!!!!!
Ran to the O'Reilleys outside my subdivision and they actually had Mr Gasket chevy header gaskets. The size wasn't perfect, but it worked. By that time, Kyle and Dan got there and we started bolting the driver's header on.
We got the driver's header all bolted down except for one bolt when Dan realized "Oh shit... when I installed this on my engine I had to back all the bolts off so I could slide the bolt in for this primary..." So we had to basically undo the bolts and do it all over again.
So we move to the passenger side when we realized the exhaust manifold bolts wouldn't work because the head was too big. We ran to ACE just before they closed at 8pm and got 7 round bolts with a hex in the center. They worked except for the #4 exhaust bolt - the primary was still too close to get the bolt in place. So, downstairs we went and Dan used the dremel to grind part of the head down so he could atleast get the bolt past the primary and into place.
Then the next challenge - that same bolt was so close to where the primary bends that we couldn't get a normal allen wrench into it. So, we sacrificed one of dad's allen wrenches and ground the end of the allen wrench off so we were left with a 1" allen wrench that we could get into the head of the bolt and then put a wrench on it to turn it.
So yeah, that took forever to get those headers installed.
Reminds me of doing longtubes on my cousin's '76 Corvette. Atleast you are dealing with them outside the car. We put them on with the engine in. My back was so sore I skipped drinking that night and went straight to vicoden.

Worked on dad's car again today before I went to go pick up my parents from my aunt and uncle's house (who was coming back from Florida with them).
So I didn't post about it but Dan, Kyle, and I were having a hard time getting dad's engine lined up without the oil pressure sensor hitting the firewall and almost being broken off. The sensor was pointed about 45 degrees away from the engine and with the plug plugged in it was going about a quarter of an inch into the trans tunnel. We tried a bunch of different things Thursday and today I tried lifting the body up, jacking the trans up so it'd be at the same angle as the body, and then lower the body down but again the oil pressure sensor was getting wedged between the engine and the firewall.
So I finally came to the conclusion that I had to yank the engine back out and fix the oil sensor. I lifted the body up with the cherry picker and realized that the torque arm was pinned against the bottom of a solenoid on the side of the trans and as I changed the angle it was making the rear end (and the wheels) roll. Got it high enough to get the wooden stands under it and then let it down without getting it high enough to get the engine out.
Called Angie and told her I needed a parts ***** to get me tools while I was working and then crawled into the engine bay between the engine and the radiator supports. TIGHT FIT!!! Anyway... got it fixed, Craig showed up while I was finishing up fixing it, and then we got the car lowered back onto the k-frame and bolted up.
I wonder how many horse power B could make under my hood like that?
Probably cost more to fuel him with white castles and beer then filling the tank once a week.

youre right, next time ill let miss-information spread.
You're right, moving the discussion to a new thread or sending him a PM to discuss it and keeping this one semi on-topic means that you're letting mis-information spread...
If I buy a 4th gen and do anything to it, I will send it to B or Kyles house, that looks like NO fun there..

It's not too bad. But I will tell you this - for about 95% of the things that need to be done to an engine, I'd rather drop it out to do it than do it in the car.

semi on topic? It was about whether or not header paint would hold... that wasnt "semi" relevant?
youre right, i guess i was talking about barbie dolls.
I dont care if its in a different thread, but the way i see it you are talking down to people who dont have the ability to split a thread.
