What needs editing, Todd? I would like that swimming bouy removed, but I don't have Photo Shop. Anything else? I already cropped it a little.

    • Here are a couple that I shot including where I removed the bouy
You can tell in the second one that I used a fill in flash as the front spoiler and wheel is much brighter .

OK, I see what you mean. Without Photo Shop I can't do that.

Of all the shots we both took, I prefer the higher angled shots, myself. Ray's second and third shots are my favorites.

              • Oval Beach by Saugatuck. No posts or guard rails to clutter things up. It was surprisingly busy there yesterday, but we managed to work around the people and their cars.

                    Mine too...again, great job, Doug.

I spent many a weekend growing up on the Oval as a kid...a sentimental favorite...

                    • Thanks, Derek. Yes, it's a nice beach and works well for beach photos.

Jeff, We've been going to Oval Beach for years, too. It's a nice beach and the Saugatuck area is nice, as well. Just don't plan to go there on Labor Day weekend !!!!!! Last year I took the family there on Labor Day and stumbled into the middle of some huge gay convention. 8-O The place was packed with hundreds of gay men. It was so full there was only one parking place left. Needless to say it was pretty awkward for the family. Some of those guys were very blatant about their orientation.

Thankfully, that's not the norm and it's usually a very nice, family oriented beach.

Hey Doug, my father grew up in Saugatuck and graduated from high school there in 1961 from a class of 43 (I think)total...one of his summer jobs was to row the ferry (I use the term loosely...lol..) from one side of the downtown canal to the other...it's now a crank operated affair.

I can vaguely even remember when the Keewatin was last berthed.

And, yes, the gay population has definately taken root in the 'Tuck for a good 10 years now.

Regardless, a great little town...need to get back over there and spend a weekend...

                            • Ya Jeff,
Saugatuck is a great little town. We love walking downtown among the shops, restaurants and ice cream shops. The gay thing is usually not a big issue, but on Labor Day, I saw plates at the beach from about 10 different States.

Ya, the "ferry" is more like a big raft.

We've taken the sunset cruise on the paddle wheeler boat out to Lake Michigan from downtown, and that's very nice.

                              Brian,
You'll have to give the credit for the new avitar to Ray. He was willing to climb up on the sand dune to get that shot.
