Hey, You can cancel anytime you would like. It's just that I am available to help out Saturday. Doesn't sound like Gib is going to make it until late Sat. Night or Sunday. Not trying to pressure anyone. However, your gonna have to come around to working on this thing before everybodies gone out for dinner. LOL

                    • Wow, is that front spoiler really that big? or is it an optical illusion? I don't remember them being that big.

                      • Not an IROC spoiler but here's an even larger aftermarket chin spoiler on a 70's Camaro!

                        • Thanks for posting those old photos, Al. The 3rd photo was taken inside a place called "Ride Road", located inside the GM Tech Center (off the Mound Road side). It's a secluded place where GM could take photos of concept cars away from the public. We were granted access to it for the weekend at the Camaro Street Nationals in 1983 (I think).

The other three photos were taken in the fall of 1984 in Palmer Park here in Wyoming. I took the car apart during the winter of 1985-86, where it stayed on the rotisserie until this fall.

The front spoiler is an after market piece designed to match the ones used on the Camaros in the International Race Of Champions (IROC) from 1975 through 1977. I was a big fan of the IROC racing series, and WMCC would make a group down to MIS every year to see the IROC race segment that was run in Michigan.

Wade, the one you have pictured is very similar, but probably made by a different aftermarket company, since it has provisions to mount fog lignts, and mine had screens to help with radiator cooling.

I think I added the spoiler and the '80 Z28 hood scoop to the car around 1981-82. You can see from the photo in the Car Craft article (that Ray posted from 1978 that I had not added those yet). I also changed the tires, from the GoodYear GT Radials, to the GoodYear Wingfoot Raidials.

As far as working on the car this Saturday, I guess we can give it a try. They're calling for the coldest air here in the area in the last 12 years. If we can't get the garage up to a comfortible temp, and we get too cold, then we'll just stop. OK?

                          • I just watched the weather and now they are talking coldest weather we have seen in 10+ yrs. Seems we ran into the coldest weekend last year about this time when we picked up the rear-end. We are not getting alot of takers on this weekend, maybe we should plan a little further out? Brrrrrrrrr!

                            • That's fine with me, Al. Gary was the only other one who thought he might show. And he was worried about the heavy snow warning making the trip from Three Rivers kind of nasty.

It will be much more fun to work on the car if it's at least around 30 degrees outside. Then the heaters have a chance, anyway.
